Is it really this time again? Feels like just yesterday I was agonizing over who to put in my final spot Lara Stone or Agyness...feels like forever ago doesn't it?

Anyhow its the time of the year to start trying to predict who will be in Style.com's annual Top Ten New Faces for this F/W 07 season. Last year we had this for the list:

Agyness Deyn
Alana Zimmer
Bruna Tenorio
Chanel Iman
Ekat Kiseleva
Iekeliene Strange
Lara Stone
Magdelena
Michaela Kocianova
Suvi Koponen

So boys and girls, its time to start throwing ideas out there. Figuring out who's gonna take a spot. Also, remember, since we had confusion about this last time, they REALLY tend to not repeat names (minus Kim Noorda).

Figured I should start the discussions as well. Last season I tried to figure out the "sure things," first. Those girls with such phenominal seasons that there was no chance they wouldn't be on the list. Last year I was only off by Daiane not making the list, but we know how picky Style.com can be about the term "new."

Anyhow the only girl on my list right now that's a "sure thing" would be Georgia Frost. Frosty killed in the campaigns after coming from nowhere. Its that surprise story that they love. She's a lock at this point.

The other girls I'm watching for a nod are:
Diana Moldovan - Pretty much the closest lock that I have this point other than Georgia.
Ali Michaels - Style.com already gave her a small shout out. She just needs to hit the big shows in NYC and she should carry over well into Europe.
Veronika Antsipava - Strong showing already, looking great too!
Elsa Sylvan - Walking a strong walk and putting more mileage each day.

Alright, from NYFW so far, some standouts...it depends on Marc's choices and the upcoming Europe shows most, of course, but at first glance:

Alex Sandor
Ali Michael
Dasha Malygina
Diana Moldovan (Almost a sure bet)
Erin Heatherton (Still doing mostly minor shows in NYC, but has potential)
Georgia Frost (Another sure bet)
Han Hye Jin (She still hasn't gotten on this list yet in the past few seasons)
Maryna Linchuk (Third sure bet)
Olga Sherer
Olya Ivanisevic
Tanya Dziahileva (Same situation as Han)
Veronika Antsipava (Doing very well)

Just a preliminary list, of course :flower:

Tanya Dziahileva was on the Spring 2006 list wasn't she? I'm trying to circumnavigate the clusterf*&k that is Style.com right now.

I do know what you mean about Han, she is walking just about everything right now, but I'm feeling pretty confident that if she was passed over last season, the same will happen this time. Much is also the case for Cecilia.

^Was she? I didn't think she was  But I could be wrong!

And I did forget Cecilia!

Ali
Elsa
Georgia
Erin
Diana
...and the rest who knows? lots of girls first show up in the paris shows.

  • Alyona Osmanova.
  • Valeria Garcia.
  • Johanna Stickland.
  • Carol Sippel.
  • Martina Correa?
hoping more than betting. :ninja:

So far it seems to me:

Maryna Linchuck
Georgia Frost
Olya Ivanisevic
Diana Moldovan

We'll see once things really start going.

I'm going to wait and see what happens in Milan and Paris, surely a newcomer will come out of there with no sign from New York.

I agree that it doesn't necessarily become clear after NYC...this is the time when we're generally introduced to the pool of girls that would be in the running for this. Carrying over their success into Milan and Paris is definitely the true test. I know it seems early to start the thread but I figured a running commentary could be fun

Ali Michael -crossing my fingers!!!
Carol Sippel
Cecilia - if she hasn't made it on the list, then she definitely will be this season
Diana Moldovan- she is doing so well already, theres no way she'll be left out
Georgia Frost- duh!!!
Olya Ivansevic- almost positive she will be on it, she's been in msot of the major shows so far.

Wow, I'm even surprised about my memory on that one.

ALSO! Johanna Strickland gets a forsure on my list. Her and Georgia Frost have the most buzz out of any of the new girls. Then again, we know we'll all be shocked by some girl who comes out of the blue and opens Prada

My bad! :D

And Mulletproof/Jules are right - Alyona/Kasia should also be contenders! But of course we know there'll be the Michaela Kocianova's of this season...nowhere but Paris!

^very true! and from what i know, alot of girls aren't at NY Fashion Week because of their visas and other stuff. Drielle, Viviane Orth and Flavia Lucini are some of them.

^ ohh man..that really sucks for them about that whole visa situation

u.s visas are granted in october..so that means they're out for next season too!!

^yeah, i'm not sure of the details and who had the problem of the visas but atleast they have London, Milan and Paris

On top of the visa situation, I'm also worried about how some of the models are going to handle the 16 y/o rule in Milan. I was really expecting Miuccia in particular to use Elainne, Luize, Kristina V. and some of the other new girls, but I believe they're all under 16.

Its a complicated year to say the least.

Hmmm...I actually don't know much about the newbies but Georgia Frost is a good lock....:judge:
