US Vogue September 2012 : Lady Gaga by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

I expected more from the review to be honest, but sounds decent.

I cant believe there isnt a single Meisel editorial when we have two with Sims.
Anyway this is a great issue, great editorial content and great (and diversed) cast.

Looks pretty decent. Can't wait to get my copy in the mail.

Well that sounds like a fantastic diverse content, despite there not being Meisel whose omission from the issue makes no sense, but i am still excited to have ti in my hands!

Thanks for the review Ash92

The cover is honestly quite genius. It's Gaga doing what she does best by turning expectations on their heads. She played with overt androgyny on her first Vogue cover, and now she's gone extremely feminine to the point where it's over the top (hence the RuPaul references!). The dramatic silhouette, hair, and model make it a memorable cover, but only time will tell if it's iconic.

Also, Vogue said that the cover banner is a throwback to the first ever cover of Vogue, which had a banner in the same place. I still think it makes the cover look tacky, though.

:woot: I want see this ED!
One Enchanted Evening (6p)
Photographer: Peter Lindbergh
Models: Aymeline Valade, Bette Franke, Elza Luijendjik, Zuzana Bijoch
Fashion Editor: Grace Coddington
Description: Highlighting Dolce&Gabbana's first couture collection. Shot in a garden. 4 pages of photos of all the girls together. Girls twirling around. 2 pages of interview plus a close-up of Bette looking beautiful.

I'm a bit sad that there's Natalia & Karen, but no Daria. I am really happy that Liu Wen is featured heavily in this issue. Maybe Anna will do an all-Asian cover sometime in the future.

I can't help but also ask where Meisel is. I know times have changed but he used to be such an important contributor for the magazine. I would actually dare to say he was the main contributor between 1992-2005. So bad to see that his features are getting so rare
Anyway, the review sounds quite disappointing for September. I know some people will actually like this, but I also found the main story too short  Even Emma Stone got a larger editorial.

With a Meisel editorial, there would have been at least something to look forward to for me. This issue sounds rather boring, but i'd like to see the Lindbergh ed and the one with Karlie OG.

Am I the only one who's not missing Meisel? I don't know, I haven't been impressed with his work in so long.

I don't miss Meisel. Knowing him he'd just do another editorial with a bunch of robot-like models. Nothing special.

The cast is boring. Always those models and celebrities.
 bette, liu, elza, candice.... i wouldn't call it a boring and repetitive casting...

Who cares about Meisel? 14 pages for Steven Klein, the best photographer!

LE + Ricardo Tisci is in.

I think the cover is superb. I'm no Lady Gaga's fan but she looks amazing here, very theatrical. I'm not too excited about the content though. Two Sims' editorials seem a bit too much here and I'd really love to have Meisel do one of his usual brilliant studio shoots.
