What to wear when you're a student

jeans, ballet flats, trench coats, diamond/pearl studs. tees.

usually jeans, sneakers and t-shirts, shirts or pulls...
today I had my oral exams so I wore a pair of black Capris, flat elegant sandals and a classic white shirt...

I'm not sure if I even known how to dress down, even when I think I'm casual I'm not by other people's standards. I've been dressing up since I was 5. I'm one of only three females at work who does not wear a polo shirt and jeans (shorts in the summer) 99% of the time. When I go shopping, out with friends (though that's a rarity these days), to school or anywhere else I am dressed up. Wearing skirts, blouses, hose, and heels is normal to me and comfortable too.

I always make sure during normal exams that I am dressed as usual or it distracts me. During final exams I usually am wearing a nightgown and am asleep in bed because at my college if you have an A/4.00 average in a class before the final then you are exempt from it. Which completely rocks. :woot:

I’ve never seen anyone else at my college that dresses up the way I do. I know people gawk at me at school and elsewhere because my manner of dress seems out of place but my level of care about that is set to zero. I don’t care anymore because in the past when I tried dressing to fit other people’s standards all it did was make me unhappy and you only live once.

:P :P :P    Well said! You only live once!!

Yeah, I'm going to be going to college in a total college town so its not like the city environment... still I want to add a little splash of something to my outfits each day.

/\ reminds me of the strokes :P

it baffles me to see girls at my school in full makeup and made-up hair at the same time wearing sweats/pjs. It's like...you had all that time to get yourself all done, why did you stop with your wardrobe? It's strange..
I have nothing aganst sweats at all though!

I am in love with plain boy-fit tees for school :D Wear it under a fancy tanktop and it makes your whole outfit much more casual. I love wearing knee/ankle high american apparel tube socks. Theyre so adorable for school..esp. with a mini/shorts.

^ ya same at my school and it drives me absolutely crazy!! I mean if your going to wear pounds of carefully applied makeup and hair that spent 45 minutes, why wear clothes that were meant for lounging or exercising?

i am a nudist therefore i wear nothing...LOL jk no i wear jeans and button up shirts....to be such in fashion im a really plain dresser..

Jeans or a giant bubbly but casual skirt but always with suede slip on boots and a shrunken blazer..if its cold I layer tees or a hoodie with the jacket:heart: that's how I dress for school almost everyday.

Same with me. I intend to dress more fashionably for next year, but I made this little rule up with myself not to buy anything that's not designer....That's not going too well. I kind of forgot when I made that rule that I work at a grocery store.

Big plan to make money and buy clothes: write a novel. Sounds easy enough.

For the most part it's jeans and a tee or top, maybe with something layered under or over. I never really feel motivated to dress-up for school... everyone dresses so horribly it just doesn't put me in the mood. Besides, the guys aren't even cute

Next year I hope to actually put effort into dressing for school. I've got to impress everyone- I hate getting the "cute" comments. And no one ever believes me when I say I'm going into fashion. "Fashion? Haha! Oh, you're so cute hun!"

I dress down too, but I still like having basics well-cut to fit my body correctly. I usually wear navy and grey or black in hopes it won't bring attention to me (subconsciously?). This school year, I would love to get cute shoes like loafers, something easy and pretty to walk and run in! I also want a leather bag, the kind that elementary school students in Japan have.

During winter exams, i always wear jeans, trainers (hogan), a petit bateau tee shirt and a cachemire jumper.
I always try to wear black top because when you wear flashy colors, the examiners always look at you .
During summer exams, i wear jeans, ballets flats (french sole) or a pair of tods and a Ralph Lauren Polo (black or navy). I need comfort ! ! !
I try to avoid designer bags during exams because during written and oral exmas, we can't keep our bag with us, they have to stay on the floor:cry:  near the teachers. There is a kind of competition between students and teachers in my university. Most of the times, the students win. Some of them have Cartier watch and almost everyone wear Prada shoes, LV bags, YSL bags, Vanessa Bruno bags, and now Gerard Darel bags.

Usually jeans, polos or blouses and ballerinas or pumps, I can't stand sneakers on myself.

I don't dress up to go to college... I'm always in jeans. Usually with a t-shirt, or a tank top, or a tank top over a t-shirt :D

But I'm not a big fan of dressing too "simply". I like to accessorize (nice belts, necklaces/chains, bracelets, a nice shrug or bolero etc) and my t-shirts and tops always have a cool/interesting print or something... I also have a couple of band tees I like to wear (of bands like The Clash or The Rezillos - all with really cool prints), and when I wear a band t-shirt I always accessorize with something a bit more "girly", if you will.

I also like my jeans to have something different to them (I don't like plain jeans). I quite like skinny jeans. They're not big here in Brazil, so I don't end up looking like everyone else.

So, I mean it's usually jeans and a top but never too simple. Always with a special touch to it... and a lot of influences from original punk style (it's in my blood ^_^ ).

For go to school I usually wear a jeans with a Tshirt or pull over with flats or converse, it's very simple for outfit.

how does a nice school uniform sound.

matching shoes, socks and a pretty:yuk: little dress in summer with a mtaching big roud hat(stings MUST be atached with the little nobby things so you can tighten them under your chin).

then for winter matching (as in everyone wear's exactly the same item, or you get "rubish duty")shoes, sockings, skirts, shirts, TIES:sick: (horrible and uncomftertable) and a little badge if your yr 10 or over!!

on top of all that one earing per ear plain NO coloured stones. hair lakies are to be black and navey ONLY. the only item of jewlery aloud is a PLAIN watch, and a plain necklace with a cross on it.

if you are caught with your skirt rolled up to make it shorter, or your skirt has been taken up you WILL be sent home to change (yes this has actually happened  ) also if hair is not your natural colour, you will get a warning, if your hair ins't back to normal the next day, students can be sent home, and parents notified (a set of twins left the school, out of desperation to have pink streaks through their hair, although they were also in constant trouble for having a nose peircing that they taped up and were probably sick of all the other rulestoo)

i could ramble on and on about how we are FORCED to dress at school for a couplemore pages, we actually have a booklet that tells us our dressing rules, and im not going to bother scaning it or tyyping everything out :(

anyway sorry to ramble on, if youve even read this far :innocent:

(ohh we have a free dress day once a simester, and have a list of rules to follow too (no navel showing, no sleavless tops, shoes must be enclosed ie, sneakers:sick: or STUDENTS WILL BE SENT HOME)

   :furious: :furious: :censored: :judge:

here you can guess what a person studies from what he/she wears

I'm at law school. So a lot of people are dressed up and have this preppy / snobby look. I suppose if anyone would really turn up in sweatpants or pjs everybody would stare at him like at an alien, and he would also get some nasty comments from the profs.
I don't really dress up, just normal. comfy shoes - ballerinas, converse, flip flops - jeans, tshirts, skirts, dresses whatever mood strikes me. one might probably call my style hipsterlike:rolleyes:.
For my latest oral exams I usually dressed in full formal gear as I call it, means pumps, thighs, suit, white blouse, and I hated it. but when you have an prof who sent someone home just because he didn't wear a tie with his suit at a really hot day you better dress up.
for written exams it's jeans, fave t-shirt and my green hoodie for luck
