What to wear when you're a student

I have my ways to get round uniform.

I cut off the bottom of my tie, so it isn't long or bulky!
I wear a black high waist, knee length skirt (quite like Miu Miu FW07) a shirt, or polo shirt. And usually a coloured cardigan.
HEELS! :D

I ALWAYS wore heels with my uniform, most people did, but we all looked very nice. And our uniforms weren't bad, we definatley weren't allowed to add our own flare (except with the shoes, but still had to be black, so now I have a million pairs of black heels, which is fine cause they go with everything).

^^ see the werid thing was when we were at school .. in like years 7 and below when we must have been like under 11 .. we always wore heals .. but then as we got older we always wore flats with our uniform little dolly shoes and the like .. bit mad really you would think it would be other way around like

Oh I wore flats when I was young, it was grade 11 & 12 when I wore a uniform and heels

It is odd (IMO) to be wearing heels when you're so young. I never have seen any younger kids wearing heels nowadays, but I haven't seen any in uniforms either. Although maybe if you wear flats when your younger you want a change so switch it up with heels, and if you wear heels you switch it up with flats.

This is turning into an odd post....

I'm an art student so I am forced to dress around the schedule of my studio classes. I usually (and dread) wearing ratty jeans and tees to sculpture and printmaking, but after morning class and on non studio days I dress up and wear skirts, dresses, heels, lots of boots, and nice stuff.

Thanks for posting Couture_Tribe, I checked it out: I really love your style! I think I saw one of your posts the board about what you wore today. Thanks for the inspiration! :flower:

Frankly for me it's not about dressing differently during exams, unless I only have one class and am done before 10. I always wear jeans or whatever and look good, no matter the day.
The only time I would consider (and, unfortunately, have) wearing pj's or juicy sweats is when I am super tired and can barely get out of bed. Frankly I don't have to think about my outfit when I throw on some sweats, cus I know nothing can make it look great, so I don't stress.

This is pretty cool. Im actually started a streetstyle blog cataloging what college kids wear. Pretty much for me its what i normally wear. I agree with the post above about dressing smart, feeling smart, etc.

In highschool I wore a uniform. But in college I usually just wear skinny jeans, tshirts, american apparel hoodies, and flats or in winter, boots.

I'm in college - my campus really has ranges of fashion from the 'I rolled out of bed to be here' variety to the 'isn't this the Oscars?' kind.

I just usually wear really casual clothing, but I am always neat and put together. I think you can be comfortable without looking like you should be parked in front of your TV watching Jerry Springer.

The one thing I don't understand about some of the girls is that they'll wear mittens, hats, North Face fleeces and wear flip flops. WTF?

thats me, I'm too tired in the morning. Usually I'll wear jeans and a tee but I'll wear sweats and pj bottoms sometimes too. Our school is very casual so I dont look out of place.

well, i was raised to never leave the house looking anything less than my best, so going to my classes in pajamas or sweats is out of the question for me, even if i only have one morning class that day or something. usually i go casual, with jeans and a t-shirt with converse/ballet flats or sandals/boots depending on the season, sometimes i might get a little dressier and wear slacks and a button up. i like to look nice.

i tend to fall victim to the sweatpants and tshirts too.:ninja:

although some people do dress up a lot at my school it's not very original or even cutting edge so i tend not to bother. a lot of people wear sweatpants every single day and i dont really have anybody to impress.

it really changes everyday. sometimes i'm really casual and wear skinny jeans with something like turtleneck or a striped sailor shirt and flats or boots...i do this mostly when i'm really tired in the morning. other times i put in more effort and wear dresses with tights and more accessories. most of the time it feels like the clothes i wear in the real world are always the clothes i like most on the runway or for myself ideally (obvious, if i had an unlimited bank account, this would be different). i try to wear interesting things to school- - even if i look casual sometimes, i never look like a schlub because i never wear sweatpants or sweatshirt (well, i have one sweatshirt i wear a lot but it's a hoodie and it's leather, ok? ) i wore my latex leggings to school the other day, though, and i was suprised by all the compliments i got on them, from boys and girls alike. i really like dressing up for school because i like to see what people's reactions will be and because i'm shy, it's much easier to communicate through clothing.

Since I work in the morning and go to class in the evening, it's basically my work-wear. It's semi-formal, (no jeans, tanks, etc) so even within the work parameters, I tend to be over-dressed and just, well, some call it unjustly "the-perky-party-goth" or something ridiculous . leggings, boots, flats, dresses, coats, etc.

compared to some other colleges i could look like i have a wedding to go to after classes, but given that i attend one of the most ridiculously posh colleges in barcelona where girls wear sky-high heels and miniskirts, and tons of make up as if they were heading a nightclub i jsut look like a boy in a shirt and jeans and a nice blazer (i love my blazers )

i wish i could post pics of these girls... they dont look bad, they just look so out of place and inappropriate!

^ id love to see that!
At my college there are a handfull of well dressed people. THere are many good winter jackets (even though the weather here compared to other places is very timid) so good jeans, a chloe bag here and there...There aren't enough people to get me to do it...Getting up at 6:30am I really just dont care...I'M not doing sweatpants or the shoe of the beast The Flip Flop but Im not looking like some pictuire right outta GQ either, I think when I become a junior or senior I start (even though by then I hope to be outta here by then  )

I don't get why people dress slubby. Sweatpants aren't any easier to put on than regular pants. The same goes for worn-out hoodies vs regular tops. The funny thing is that the girls in the sweat pants usually look like they spent an hour doing their hair in the morning.
