Who will sweep up the spring/summer 2017 shows?

I've read this interview a little while ago, probably on MDC. Funny that he said that, and yet, he dropped all of the new faces he booked last season, for this season's new girls. How ironic.
Unless that ''What I feel that we need to do now is develop the careers of models. If we keep changing them each season, they don’t develop and they don’t grow up'' only apply to his personal favorites.

So many girls flopping really hard at the moment like Naki, Katherine moore, Peyton, Bara Podzimkova, Leila Goldkuhl, Ally Ertel, Paulina Frankowska, the Pavlova's are not doing as well as they should, neither are Lorena, Fernanda, Harleth, Sandra, Alexandra, Noemi Abigail, Sarah Brannon, Mayka, etc etc etc...

The turnaround on these girls is just insane. It's getting an old story by now. BTW is somebody keeping some score around here? I'd love to see who is actually sweeping, in numbers..

In quantity (according to MDC), Jay Wright has walked 42 shows so far (her thread needs maaajor updating lol), Jess PW follows her with 40 shows, Selena Forrest with 39 shows, and Lineisy with 38.

I wonder if it's these girls that are "flopping" or if it's just our expectations of success that are insanely high... with this many girls, just getting onto a major runway is a small miracle in and of itself. Maybe they're not walking 70+ shows, but that doesn't mean they're "flopping" by any means.

it's a weird balance of "these girls don't fit this brand at all!" and "these girls aren't everywhere so they're flopping!"

^And now what we get is girls who don't fit the brands are still walking the shows but girls who are able to handle different looks flopped. I mean, look at this season's disastrous casting!

I share most of your point here and a few days ago I compared Katie Moore's season to the previous one, and there isn't that much of a difference. It's not like she was everywhere last time, she just had a great first season and is booking slightly less these days. Same goes for Leila Goldkuhl somehow (except that FW 16-17 wasn't her first one) and Harleth isn't doing bad this season from what I read on the showlists, ditto on the Pavlovas, they are still pretty much everywhere if you ask me. The real thing is to realize that Julia Nobis is the exception and not the rule booking so much season after season, year after year.

Really? At this time, last season, she literally had walked the double amount of shows that she did so far this season.
While Leila walked 7 shows in Milan last season, and this time she walked 6 (only rebooked 2 of them. Btw, what about Piergiorgio's whole ''we need to develop the careers of models and not changing them each season''? bs) So that I would consider ''not that much of a difference''. But Katie's case is pretty noticeable.

As StoneSkipper said, some girls aren't really ''flopping'', at all. It's just expectations of success that are insanely high for girls like the twins, Lorena, Fernanda, Harleth, Alexandra and etc.
While some others are indeed flopping. It's not even high expectations, they are just really being dropped by CDs that booked them last season, and this season are replacing them for newer faces.

I put the "that much" in italic characters because there's indeed a difference but it's mostly Paris so far (and I don't see a change for now). As far as I remember she (Katie) didn't do much in NY and Milan last time, only Paris came as a great surprise.

Regarding the CD's quote, I agree with you, I don't see that in facts at all and most castings are a random mixture of the bigger names they can book and new girls. Except for those who are true to their taste and style like Demeulemeester, Owens, Ackermann in Paris for example.

Haha that's a good point, although he seems to imply that it's the designers who ultimately have the final say on the casting.

And yes maybe our expectations are too high for some girls. Lorena, Harleth, the Pavlovas are not having a bad season.
In Paris, I thought Adrienne Juliger and Frederikke Sofie would be everywhere. They booked a lot of shows in NY and Milan but only a couple so far in Paris.

*raises hands*

Jess PW is leading atm with 46 shows, Selena second with 44 and Camille third with 43.

Here are the Top 10s of each city at the moment. Please do correct me if I miss one or two things here, even if I have a good counting system...

New York (minus Tory Burch because I haven't added it yet since I only used nowfashion's calendar which has no Tory Burch schedule on it)
Jay Wright - 16 (0/1)
Yasmin Wijnaldum - 16 (1/0)
Camille Hurel - 15 (0/1)
Selena Forrest - 15 (1/0)
Adrienne Jüliger - 15 (0/0)
Julie Hoomans - 14 (3/0)
Lineisy Montero - 14 (0/2)
Roos Abels - 14 (1/1)
Vittoria Ceretti - 13 (2/0)
Kiki Willems - 13 (1/0)
Mica Argañaraz - 13 (0/1)

London
Sofie Hemmet - 12 (0/0)

Charlotte Lindvig - 9 (0/0)
Maria Zakrzewska - 8 (1/1)
Isabella Ridolfi - 8 (0/1)
Janiece Dilone - 8 (1/0)
Phillipa Hemphrey - 8 (0/1)
Céline Bouly* - 8 (0/0)
*tied with Lineisy Montero, Luping Wang, Mayowa Nicholas, and Saadi Schimmel

Milan
Jessie Bloemendaal - 16 (0/0)
Marjan Jonkman - 13 (0/0)
So Ra Choi - 13 (0/0)
Vittoria Ceretti - 12 (1/2)
Luna Bijl - 12 (2/0)
Frederikke Sofie - 12 (1/0)
Greta Varlese - 12 (0/1)
Jess PW - 12 (1/0)
Lineisy Montero - 12 (0/1)
Lia Pavlova - 12 (0/0)*
*tied with Mayowa Nicholas and Roos Abels

Current Paris counting meanwhile has Camille Hurel leading with 14 shows, Jess PW 13 and Selena 12.

As for the Top Shows, Roos has 28, and Jess and Camille tied at 27. Might consider releasing my spreadsheet once this season ends so that you can come and see it for yourselves.

Is it safe to say that this is Jess PW's breakout season (along with Camille), provided that she made it last season but wasn't enough to place herself in the MDC list? (or that she was already listed there?)

With only one day left of fashion week, the race for first face of the season is really tight:

1- Jess PW, Lineisy and Selena: 51 shows.
2- Camille Hurel: 50 shows
3- Jay Wright: 49 shows
4- Jessie Bloemendaal: 47 shows
5- Roos Abels: 45 shows
6- Mali Koopman: 44 shows
7- Mayowa: 42 shows
8- Marjan and Yasmin: 41 shows
9- Dilone and Vittoria: 40 shows
10- Adrienne Juliger: 38 shows

Compared to last season's top 10:

F/W 2016.17 Top 10 walkers (New York + London + Milan + Paris:(

1- Lia Pavlova - 71 shows
2- Odette Pavlova - 62 shows
3- Lineisy Montero - 61 shows
4- Marjan Jonkman - 60 shows
5- Maartje Verhoef - 53 shows
6- Julie Hoomans - 52 shows
7- Sora Choi - 51 shows
8- Adrienne Juliger - 48 shows
9- Greta Varlese - 47 shows
10- Irina Djuranovic - 46 shows

and Spring 2016:

Thinks Vinciano

So the official top 10 is:
1. Lineisy - 68
2. Harleth - 66
3. Alexandra - 65
4. Greta Varlese - 62
5. Julie Hoomans - 57
5. Maartje Verhoef - 57
5. Vanessa Moody - 57
8. Irina Djuranovic - 56
9. Waleska Gorczevski - 49
10. Emmy Rappe - 47

Really close, and the girls leading walked less shows compared to the previous ones. One reason is probably because the scheduling of the big shows were kinda squeezed together (?).

I think Camille is at 51 as well.

Everyone's fighting for the finish line now!

Pick your sides, everyone! The last day will decide the winner!

Congrats to Lineisy. Absolutely remarkable being in the top 3 for 3 seasons straight.

So I guess Selena and Jess are tied at #1, Camille at #2 and Lineisy #3?
Both Selena and Jess have walked 51 shows according to models.com but they haven't added Redemption (for Jess) and Louis Vuitton (for Selena) so they should be at 52. Lineisy and Camille haven't walked any new show today and they're at 50 shows. But Camille walked Redemption so 51 shows for her.

That settles it, Jess and Selena dominated this season!

Man, Lineisy is quite a strong contender. Never expected anyone to hold a Top 10 for three consecutive seasons. Respect!
