Lindsay Lohan faces ban from India

Lindsay Lohan could be banned from travelling to India following a documentary and false child trafficking claims.

Hollywood actress and model Lindsay Lohan could be blacklisted by the Indian government following her trip to the country last December when she falsely claimed she had rescued 40 child workers.

Her comments, which highlighted the plight of child labourers, ruffled feathers in India and alerted officials who discovered she had broken the country's visa rules by travelling as a tourist while working on a BBC documentary.

The Mean Girls star had arrived in India to film an expose of child labour and trafficking of women which was later broadcast on BBC3, but she provoked a row when she claimed to have personally rescued 40 children.

In a series of updates on the social networking site Twitter, she boasted of her role in a daring raid on a child labour sweatshop and claimed the experience had changed her life. "Over 40 children saved so far ... Within one day's work ... This is what life is about ... Doing THIS is a life worth living!!!" she said. She later contrasted the superficiality of celebrity life with the satisfaction of social activism. "Focusing on celebrities and lies is so disconcerting, when we can be changing the world one child at a time ... hope everyone can see that," she said.

But according to activists leading the raids, Ms Lohan did not arrive in India until after the raids had been completed and the children had been rescued.
Some of them had been 'sold' by their parents for £25 and were working 17 hours per day for as little as £3 a month. Activists involved in the raids criticised her comments and accused her of trivialising the issue of child trafficking.

Now she may not be able to visit India again after officials looked at her case and found she had failed to apply for a work visa for her trip.
Senior civil servants in New Delhi are now studying the case and will rule on whether her name will be added to an immigration blacklist.

White Oprah Debuts Her New Collection Of Fugly Green Toothbrushes

Earlier I posted a highly important news story (eat that with a dollop of whipped sarcasm on top) about White Oprah's plans to hold a press conference today to talk about her new line of eco-friendly toothbrushes. Aaaaaand here's the pictures from that very special press conference which was held in one of the lesser used gates at Port Authority in NYC.

The launch of the Lohan Brush was attended by a college student doing her final thesis on mental illness, a few Japanese tourists (they are everywhere) and a dozen people that White Oprah owes money to.

White Oprah told those who attended that the green Lohan Brush requires no water. This will come in handy when your water has been shut off due to non-payment and you need to clean out your pipe. White Oprah is always thinking about Lindsay. And she really is, because that white brush can double as a taint tickler.

It's pretty hard to say who Lindsay Lohan is dating, if anyone, at this point. Still, the rumor mill was in full force this weekend after the 23-year-old actress allegedly got in a bit of a spat with a girl who chatted up model Adam Senn at an LA nightclub, when he was supposed to be giving his undivided attention to her.

Lindsay and Adam were first romantically linked to in December 2009, and apparently patched things up at Voyeur and left together after the star's jealous tiff. Hm.

A source told X17 Online: "There was some bickering going on because Adam was there with some other chick but soon Adam ditched her to spend the night with Lindsay. And later on, Lindsay was shouting at the girl, acting so jealous for some reason. Lindsay kept groping and grinding against Adam before they left together."

Adam is not the only person Lindsay, whose most recent relationship was with DJ Samantha Ronson, has been romantically linked with in recent weeks. She reportedly spent a lot of her time on her recent trip to London with 'Eragon' actor Edward Speleers, with the blond hunk even introducing her to pals as his girlfriend.

A source said: "Edward took Lindsay to a house party and introduced her to all his friends as his girlfriend. He told them she's trying to make it as an actress over here because her acting career has stalled in America. She has become close with some of Ed's friends and they all get along well."

The Mean Girls star was also said to have become "obsessed" with model Sam Webb during her London trip after they bonded over their shared interest in fashion.

She certainly wasn't the first celebrity name to spring to mind when linked with the filming of a documentary about child trafficking in India.
But Lindsay Lohan appeared to have thrown herself into the project wholeheartedly as she posed with a young child who may have benefited from her very public intervention.
However BBC bosses have been forced to defend The Mean Girls actress, who is as well known for her partying lifestyle as her film work.

Newly released pictures show one of the highest profile members of young Hollywood dressed simply in a black dress and shawl, very little make-up and looking to all intents and purposes like a woman on a mercy mission.
Actress Lohan, who is primarily known for her partying lifestyle, visited India last December to make a BBC documentary about poverty stricken women and children in the country.

Lohan’s trip to India caused controversy at the time after she falsely claimed she had rescued 40 child workers.
At the time she tweeted: 'Over 40 children saved so far, within one day's work.

'This is what life is about.... Doing THIS is a life worth living!!! Oh, and I'm talking about being in India.'

A BBC spokesman said at the time that there had been a 'misinterpretation'.
During the whistlestop tour Lindsay visited the SANLAAP (women and children's charity) home in Kolkata and will also visited local hospitals to give toys to sick children.

The star said the trip was the 'most amazing time of my life' and mentioned the work of Bachpan Bachao Andolan (Save the Childhood Movement), a charity which works against child trafficking.

Danny Cohen, BBC3's channel controller, defended the use of Hollywood actress to front the investigative documentary.
He told Radio Times: 'Finding a celebrity who genuinely cares about the issue really helps pull in a crowd that wouldn’t otherwise switch on. But you have to be careful.

'If you get a rent-a-celeb, this audience can spot it a mile off. I’ve turned down more celebrity-led documentaries than I’ve put on the channel.'

And the documentary's director Maninderpal Sahota, rushed to defend accusations that local children were being used as an accessory to help rebrand Lohan’s fading celebrity.
Sahota said: 'It’s clearly not comparable, but I think as a result of working in an adult world since she was ten, she feels childhood is precious, and when you lose one you can never replace those years.
'She behaved perfectly throughout – she slept in the same hotels, travelled in the same cars, just asked the right questions and clearly empathised with the children in a way hardened reporters might struggle to have done.

'Most people in rural villages in India have absolutely no idea who Lindsay Lohan is... When we finished, we had to race to the airport chased by paparazzi.

'That’s not the kind of thing you get if you work with Michael Buerk.'
But Radio Times still slammed the documentary as 'a crass pairing even though her presence will no doubt double the audience for the issue.'

And the publication were not able to interview concerned Lohan personally, as they wrote: 'Our attempts foundered when her personal assistant asked what the fee would be.'

From movie star to bag lady: Lindsay Lohan in talks to design a handbag collection for Ed Hardy

Lindsay Lohan has stooped down to Jon Gosselin's level.

The troubled starlet is in talks to launch a new collection of handbags with the debunked reality star's favorite clothing line, Ed Hardy, reports E! Online.
"Lindsay and the design team at Ed Hardy have mutual friends, and they knew she was interested in looking for a handbag license and partner," a source said. "They thought she'd be a good fit and so did she."

The 23-year-old actress' new partnership with the company comes weeks after she was dismissed as artistic director for French fashion brand Emanuel Ungaro.

LiLo, who currently has her own line of leggings called 6126, reportedly has three collections in development with the L.A.-based clothing company, with many more expected in the future.

"Lindsay is very directly involved with the project, and she's always pulling things online and from magazines for ideas," added the snitch.

Though Lohan dabbled in the handbag business when she modeled for Dooney & Bourke in 2004, and again for Jill Stuart in 2007, this new venture with Ed Hardy would mark her first time working behind the scenes.
