What Lindsay Lohan Can Expect in Jail

By Ken Lee

Sunday July 11, 2010 05:50 PM EDT

Lindsay Lohan will soon be trading in her designer duds for a stiff cotton Los Angeles County Jail jumpsuit come her three-month sentence, likely to be served at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, Calif.

Legal experts say she'll likely serve between two weeks to a month due to the sheriff's long-standing policy of releasing nonviolent offenders early due to overcrowding, presuming she'll also get time off for good behavior. She is due to surrender to the court and begin her sentence on July 20.

Paris Hilton served 23 days of a 45-day sentence at the same jail for violating her probation in a DUI case and was sprung early for good behavior.

"I was basically in the fetal position, basically in hysterics," Hilton told PEOPLE at the time of her first sleepless nights in jail. As for her fellow inmates, she said, "All of the inmates were very supportive. There were girls next to me. We could talk through the vents and they were just really sweet."

Photographed and Fingerprinted

As with all other prisoners, Lohan, 24, will be photographed, fingerprinted and searched upon entry at the facility, which currently holds about 1,800 inmates, all of them female, says L.A. sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore.

After being placed in a holding area with other detainees, Lohan will eventually be assigned a 12-by-8 cell that features two bunks (with 4-inch thick foam mattresses covered in green vinyl), a toilet, sink, a stool and a small tabletop. The only glimpse of the outside world is through a narrow six-inch window.

Whitmore said that Lohan would likely be segregated from the general population "for her protection as well as the jail staff."

Little Free Time

Most inmates at the Lynwood jail are kept in their cells for 22 hours a day, except for one hour of recreation time and 20 minutes per meal. The free-time hour can be spent watching TV in a common room, playing basketball in a recreation room, making phone calls or taking a hot shower.

Morning wake-up calls are at 5 a.m. through a blaring P.A. system. "Line up for chow! Make your bed! Tuck your shirts in! Hands in your pants! I want my military line with no talking! That's how you start your day at Lynwood," a former inmate tells PEOPLE.

Breakfast is served shortly thereafter and typically consists of two hard-boiled eggs, two pieces of wheat bread and an orange juice carton. Lunch is served around 10:30 a.m. and is often peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, an apple, banana or two cookies with a fruit punch carton.

Served around 5:30 p.m., a typical dinner (the only hot meal of the day) is processed chicken, what inmates have nicknamed "erasers," served with noodles, broccoli, coleslaw and Jell-O for dessert. To drink: milk.

After that kind of abysmal treatment she'll really be able to relate to all those poor children she helped in Morocco.

Bad news everyone! The Smurf Mafia lawyer has resigned already. He was very selfish and wouldn't work for free.:(

TMZ has learned Lindsay Lohan's new lawyer isn't her new lawyer anymore ... people connected with him say because he wouldn't work for free ... but we're hearing a very different story.

Stuart V. Goldberg met with Lindsay, Dina and Ali on Friday night and it was a done deal, until he got a call over the weekend from Lindsay's business manager, Lou Taylor, who said they just couldn't afford him ... this is all according to Goldberg's camp.

But on the Lindsay side, it's a whole other story. Let's just say that even Dina and Lindsay decided Goldberg was ... how do we say nicely ... a little eccentric. How 'bout a license plate with letters that reveal the word, "Snake Charmer"

The new leader in the clubhouse? We hear it's none other than O.J. Simpson's former lawyer, Robert Shapiro. Hey, Shapiro helped get a killer off, so maybe not such a bad idea.

And now the Judge has ordered Shawn to stay as Lindsay's lawyer, but Lindsay isn't answering Shawn's calls. Fail!
Lawyer's stuck with Lindsay Lohan

There's more drama in the Lindsay Lohan camp. Her lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley -- who quit following Tuesday's hearing where Lohan was sentenced to 90 days in jail -- has been told by Judge Marsha Revel that she cannot leave the case. A source told us, "The judge told Holley she can't quit and leave Lindsay without representation. She has to stay on the case until Lindsay has a substitution of attorney filed with the court."

The source added Holley was frustrated with Lohan because "she won't take or follow advice. She is not returning calls, and so they haven't been able to set up meetings with her and a psychologist for her court-ordered psychiatric evaluation." So unless Lindsay starts complying with Holley, or finds a new lawyer in the next few days, her chances of appealing her sentence look thin. A rep for Holley declined to comment.

Must be a REAL nutter then, eh?

It looked thin before all of this!! Damn- I was looking forward to this lawyer guy wheeling up to a hearing in a powder blue Rolls convertible (license plate: KILLR) with Lindsay smiling next to him..."No statement right now, boys- but justice can and will be served!! And- God Bless America!!"
How well do you think Lindsay is going to handle being locked in that cell with another girl? A shared toilet in the middle of the room?? I will be very surprised if she has anything like the emotional resources and maturity to get through this in one piece:(...

Any bets on a Sheriff's standoff at Casa De Lohan next week?

75% in favor of....! I'm calling Vegas and putting a cool Grand on a helicopter covered Paris Hilton-esque stand off (make sure you cuff her in full view, boys- that is the money shot!!) Dina will not let her little cherub go to jail!! These Lohan Haters have gone too far this time!! (Not to mention Michael, Sam, Fudgie the Whale and the Pink Unicorns!! Don't get me started...)
(BTW- do the Lohan Haters have special hoods or T Shirts they all wear when they go to their rallies and burn effigies of Lindsay and eat Carvel Ice Cream?? Just wondering...)

^ I think he really has to...it's his claim to fame!! Although there is still a good chance Dina will throw herself under the wheels of the police car to save her child from a fate worse than death!!

Did Linda Lovelace ever go to jail? This could be the start of a wonderful exploration of method acting!

The possibilities for jailhouse stories (My wild nights with Lindsay by inmate 'X') are endless, aren't they? And seeing that picture of the lawyer, I am more sure than ever that he drives a powder blue Rolls convertible...and is a major contributor to the Liberace Museum in Vegas... B)

And the NY Post says...

Dina-ial Lohan takes her delusions to Entertainment Tonight
I won't purport to know what's going on in Dina Lohan's head (or living in her daughter's blood stream) but 2008's Mom of the Year comes across as downright delusional in this interview from Friday's Entertainment Tonight.
It's so odd to hear her make up countless excuses mere moments after saying, "people say I'm in denial and I'm enabler." But for me the most egregious example of how distorted Dina's view of reality is comes towards the end of this two-minute recap.
When serious journalist and former "Dancing with the Stars" co-host Samantha Harris asks if going to jail could potentially resurrect Lindsay's career, Dina says, "I don't think it needs resurrection, I think it's perfectly fine."
What the who?
Good lord, if Dina views "I Know Who Killed Me," "Georgia Rule," direct to TV movie "Labor Pains" and a truncated guest arc on "Ugly Betty" as "perfectly fine" it's no surprise she doesn't think Lindsay has a problem.

So ive been gone a few days.

And the pages on this thread spread like rapid fire.

Any summaries on what I missed out? Is she still in jail?
Did Dina die by drowning in her own tears wailing for her daughter to get out?

Is Michael still acting cool?

^ But she's not going...she's told her friends...even though she has no lawyer...or basis for an appeal...not going... :innocent:

And why did the judge not put her away last week!!? This two week media circus is just asking for trouble- or tragedy... :(
