Prada S/S 10 Milan

I love the way this collection progresses. It seems to have so many different elements (beach prints and then crystals) yet it all works together.

i actually love this collection. wish i could say the same for the pigtails. themz iz wack.

It really does look more like a miu miu collection in many ways.. especially the lack of clothing on the bottom half. :P
what i find amazing about prada collections is that so much can change from one season to the next. it's confusing and sort of incredible at the same time.. it's almost like looking at a completely new designer every time, as though nothing in this world is 'ugly' to Miuccia.. there is no look, no fabric, no proportion that she won't try!

i can't say i love or even really like this.. compared to last spring, for example.. that was a 'wow' collection for me.. i can't relate to this one at all - the beachy prints, the rich, stiff fabrics.. the plastic shoes and tacky sunglasses. What makes me want to be patient with it and try to find meaning in it is the fact that Miuccia always seems so sincere and diligent in her motivations.. it gives me the impression that everything is deliberate, every piece that I think is 'ugly' is there on purpose and supposed to be saying something, and so i want to try to understand it....(though i don't, not at the moment anyway.).
Great commentary as always, adore!.
I once saw this interview with Miuccia where she said that every time she thinks something is particularly ugly, she feels challenged by it and committed to work around it and make it attractive for her.. I loved it when she said that cause that's really the science behind trends.. the mysterious/ugly/unwanted mixed with a bit of wit and charm in order to give them life and turn them into some sort of object of desire.
That is for me, where Miuccia's appeal resides, I don't find her particularly inventive or avant-garde as Vogue readers seem to label her but I think she has a special way of breaking unconventional aesthetics into the world of luxury, which can be a very conservative one due to their.. funny customers.

Back to this collection, I'm attracted by the elements of surprise adore mentions but I still find it boring.. it reminds me of S/S 05.. too short, too stiff and busy.. and I know it'll only get more boring when editors devour it for 6 months starting January.

Hmm, I don't hate it (like I did last season. I don't wanna talk about it.). Some pieces are absolutely hideous-and the hair and makeup sure don't help either-but I like some pieces at the end, and a few individual pieces scattered throughout, and some of the accessories. It'll take me a while to link them all into one collection-it's more Miu Miu than Prada to me, and of course it had to be designed by Miuccia because it's very...whimsical.

Jesus, are the some of those shoes horrible.
And those clear bags are absolutely tacky.

I completely agree with everything you said mulletproof , although it is going to be quite interesting how editors and stylists work with those chandelier dresses for the next 6 months :huh:.

As many may have commented, it doesn't work 100% in light of how intriguing and sophisticated the progression was at resort. On its own, however, I think it has a lot of merit. Yes, there are plastic shoes, but I'm even more intrigued that there seem to also be velcro on those styles, I've never seen the two put together in quite that way. These are light, easy clothes that are put together perfectly and then have a raw edge. The longer you look at it, the more present the idiosyncrasies become, as opposed to hitting you with it all at once. I think the trick here is to make it all seem slightly throw away and very easy. It expertly updates much of her work from the 90s, the crystal pieces in particular.

White studio and jumping model will cut it for Vogue editors but since it will reflect light quite beautifully, I think these dresses will also help produce some fairly memorable work in more creative publications.

^ i think so too, Mullet! i'm looking forward to seeing what an eccentric, creative eye can do because personally i think those dresses are the highlight of the collection.

^ agree. I could already see the chandelier pieces being photographed beautifully.
I'm simply in love with this collection. All the elements used feel so right.

I see lots of legs and it's very resort. I think I need some time to like this collection.

this is like a resort collection, apart from the last few pieces.....boring....

After seeing the whole collection I totally love it!
The shapes are great, I like the cool colors with the tropical prints that are usually associated with warm tropical colors and I think a lot of it IS wearble if you ask me.
I also really like the water effect the "chandelier" dresses give off, it is like Michel Gondry animated water.
Love Love Love!

Have to say I'm disappointed at the shoes and had a moment of "what am I going to wear next summer" but then I remembered that 50% of the time the shoes in the store are different so I'm going to wait and see.

Clotheswise I'm loving 50% of this. The flora mini dreses are gorgeous. I love the crisscross tops and the jewel ones too. But seriously those shorts don't look like shorts they are bike pants. Yes I said it bike pants. I don't think even Prada could make me want to wear bike pants. I'm not 7 and at dance class.

Considering the fact that for once her collection doesn't look like a copy of other labels, this collection looks good. I've always thought Muiccia liked drapery and flowy fabrics, but she's used a few stiff shapes in this collection......is she getting influence elsewhere now? Perhaps from Prada's new shareholder?

In general the collection looks pretty, but it's so boring and utterly unoriginal I simply dont give a toss.

As a whole im not sure about most of the collection, but there are some pieces I definitely love like the floral and printed dress and the crystal tops and dresses:heart:, the rest of it is very dull to me.

flowers, plastic, beach prints, crystal...i love the materials, the looks are stunning...just love this collection, the hair.... reminds me a girl from the beach in earlies 60's!
