Project Runway Season Four

I agree with DuTTyRoCK112!

None of the dresses were that attractive. Imagine attending the prom in some of them, ha.
It seems this season that they recruited people from the industry that have already has major success in the fashion industry, and tis true I'd rather root for the underdog. I always like the idea that they were picking a diamond in the rough who has talent but hasn't the means or the know how to utilize it yet.
Elisa-(even though they pegged her the season's kook) has had retrospectives of her work-her designs on the cover of I.D. on Naomi Campbell, on Chloe S. huge fashion layouts, sold all over, been in countless magazine spreads, Rami has already done what most designers dream of doing, etc... It would be like American Idol auditioning & casting singers who have already had a record on the billboard charts but maybe didn't hit the "big" time. I want to see the Cinderella story.:lol:
Even Tim Gunn is sort of minimally in the picture. I like it better when he is really submitting input, not merely saying, "carry on".

Thanks for the Elisa recognition. She's worked with a ton of actresses and rock stars (Courtney Love dubbed her a "genius" in 2002) and I think she's better off without winning Project Runway. What have we seen from ANY of the three winners so far? Jay McCarroll did something for Lisa Kudrow. OK not a big deal. And Chloe is probably just used the money to further her store in Texas. Havent heard anything about Jeff...Overall I dont think winning this title does much but I could be wrong...It's just like ANTM. Those girls are never going to get any work aside from TV commercials and being chicken heads in rap videos.

Oh, as to last night, big mistake I thought. The whiny and endlessly irritating Christian should have definitely been kicked off. I liked the straight guy, and even though his dress sucked, he had more potential IMO.

From what I have read Jeffry isn't doing too well.
He broke up with his baby mama and his clothing line he had before PR dipped in sales after the show.

I would like to have seen Ricky gone. I think both Kevin and Christian are much better than him.
He needs to go back to making panties.....

I am still waiting to see this "fashion prodigy" in Christian that Tim Gunn spoke of.
He's good but I am not sure he's that good.

Hahahahaha the best part of the last episode was when Ricky said he made his girlfriends prom dress for their prom... and then said "You think she'd have figured it out then! ;)". If not then... then perhaps one of the million times he has cried might have given it away!

My whole problem with Christian and his prodigal standing is this. Technically he's skilled, not gifted as the last two challenges have shown, but he does have strong technical abilities in tailoring. But he isn't original at all, and I find it comical how he and the judges think he is.

His work is so heavily influenced by other designers, most notably McQueen and Westwood (no surprise there). That jacket he did for the SJP challenge was pure Balenciaga circa 2003 scuba collection meets Christopher Kane. His first challenge look was V.W. right down to the lacey jabot detail on the collar. Even that pathetic excuse for a menswear look he delivered was a joke, that top was about as original as every assymetrical zipped crewneck tee I've seen at H&M. I have yet to see something as original as he seems to believe it is.

I'm also wondering how broad his range of skills is, sure he can tailor, but what else can he do? The sooner he's booted off the better imo.

Though I do like what Rami has done as a whole his dress this week was questionable. That big half cowl drape he did across the front just wasn't right. It looked terrible, too much of a sweep down the body, it threw the entire dress off and looked very heavy-handed.

^^I agree about Rami's dress this week...the drape across the front...very odd...if it had been brought up several inches, it would have made a world of difference.

yeah i totally agree with you on christian. i hate how everyone praises him and his big ego and attitude is really irritating. plus, he has no decorum.

Is it just me, or are the challenges not that interesting. I'm tired of seeing how well they can make a dress with toothpicks and I'm more interested in actual clothes in different departments. Rami even said in defense to his dress that he dosen't design for 16 year old girls because that's not his customer. Sure they want a range, but considering that most of them are professional and hopeful of creating lines, they need to showcase and highlight that, rather then give them random challenges.

Again, these types of challenges are just part of the show and always have been! It's about how well they can adjust their style and react under pressure. There has been plenty of opportunity for them to show their style, especially since they got a free-pass on the first challenge with luxe fabrics and a free range of design.

I agree with Spike413 very much about Christian being overly influenced by other designers.
It reminds me of Kara's final show w/ the dresses with the Gucci-esque horsebits.
But at least she got called on it!
I hope we don't have to wait until the end of the season for a judge to call Christian out on his heavy influences.

Agreed... Rami's first dress was pretty gorgeous. The color, the cut, everything was very sophisticated. His next few looks were good, nothing bad, nothing outstanding, but I was rooting for him over anybody else. The prom dress was really, significantly ugly though. The fitted bodice and fishtail hem was really dated looking, and combined with the color/fabric and that immensely unflattering top, I really don't know what he was thinking. It looked like a Tadashi dress from 2004.

:lol::D
That's exactly what I said to my friends while watching. I understand making "one" of the challenges about using nontraditional fabric elements like toothpicks or Home Depot- but it seems like a lot of the challenges lately don't even involve real models- or women body types. I thought that football player t.v. host was so boring. Although I hate to admit it...I think I liked some of the drama of the past seasons better. Of course it could be worse, I could be on Celebrity Rehab

The challenges have always been pretty kitchy. I'm not convinced that this season is more-so.

I think because of his dress he did deserve to go home, but I was really rooting for Kevin

Same here. I hated his dress but I was hoping that someone else would go home. I really wanted him to make it to the final.

I want Victorya gone... not because she's a bad designer per se, but because she seems to have a real attitude problem. :innocent:

^I know, I think she has this annoying ice princess deal to her that I can't handle.

Victorya is actually my favorite at the moment, along with Kit.

I was wondering if any of you guys had seen earrings like the ones Elisa always wore on the show, I really liked them.

anyone sick & tired of Ricky crying in every single episode?!?! Honestly, check every episode I swear he cries in each and everyone! UGH
