I can't stand how these judges can't notice when people are copying garments by such famous designers. Also like others have said, how they notoriously boot the quiet people on their first mistake but let the more overt personalities stay.

I'd just like to comment based on everybody bashing the judges' choices. I think the judges have probably very little say in what decisions are ultimately made - I think it's the producers who actually have the most authority. Right before the show credits run at the end of each episode, there are a few lines of text about how the producers' opinions come into play.

That being said, I think that the designs that win are chosen BECAUSE they are "copies" or inspired designs. I think most of the population that watches the show watches from a very uninformed, layperson's POV; not many people have such an extensive and up-to-date knowledge of haute couture as many tFSers.

So if a design looks haute couture on the Project Runway runway, it would appeal to those laypeople who don't know it is inspired by YSL or McQueen or whatever, and when the judges "pick" that design as the winner, it makes sense to those laypeople. It might not make sense to us, but the show is not trying to appeal to us. It's trying to appeal to the 95% of its viewers who don't know YSL's latest designs.

Plus, that's why the quirky people with personality like Christian stay and the quiet ones like Kit and Alison get auf'ed ... to keep the attention of the laypeople. It's entertainment.

Yes, and lets ignore the fact that Christian has won several challenges (same goes for Rami and Victorya) and Kit won none, and that Jilian also has no personality yet she's still there. Being quiet was Kit's problem, and not in her demeanor; her work was always middle of the road.

I don't think Kit's work was merely "middle-of-the-road", there were multiple challenges where I think she should've been in the top. She didn't seem too quiet personality-wise either because they always showed shots of her laughing and joking in the workroom with other designers.

And yet, Ricky does awful work and cries 24/7. The judging this season is ridic.

I definitely didn't mean to imply Kit was the best designer there or anything like that and I know she would have gone home eventually. I just meant it like when someone like Ricky is still there, after being in the bottom many times and has been given many more chances... I just find it unfair when someone else is sent home on a first strike so to speak. It's usually the more nondescript people as well. I know it's a show based on entertainment more than anything else. Not to say I don't understand why the show is run the way it is... but I was just saying my own personal opinion on the way things are, I guess.

I do think Kit is better than Ricky b/c her clothes were always well constructed and not wet with tears....
but I never loved anything she did either.
I liked her personality more than her designs.

Jillian's lack of personality is scary at times.
She just never says anything with any tone in her voice at all.
But I think her clothes are usually cute.

ugh...I totally agree. If he cries one more time, I'm going to reach through the TV and give him something to cry about. Baby


I LOVE Christian, and I loved that dress. Even without the crazy collar it was amazingly done.

I agree she never won, but that doesn't mean I agreed with the judges' choices. For example, I think Christian always makes the same sort of jacket yet they love it each time. & Kit's menswear outfit was my favorite out of all of them but they didn't even leave her on the runway for it.

& I always wonder how quiet any contestant on reality shows are due to editing.

^^The commercial for it that aired after last week's episode made it SOOOO obvious what the challenge was!!! I already knew what it was the second I saw it! Either way, I'm super excited because from what I could see of Chris's garment, it looked fantastic!

I LOVE Christian and Chris. Team Fierce! They're both so funny. Christian has so much attitude and bitchiness while Chris is one of the nicest people I've seen on television.
