i think this will be just as bad as the lagerfeld thing. the designs were nice and i'm sure stella has some great ideas but there's no use letting a couture designer make some pieces if the fabric is cheap. designers are all about quality which, in my opinion, H&M doesn't provide.
I have to agree with this a little bit. I loved the accessories and cute lil cloth and velvet handbags at H&M.
I also took a look at their skirts and jackets and thats when I saw that the quality of the stitching and alignment of the seams were not good. My parents are from central america. My grandfather was a tailored who owned his own shop and my mother is a incredible seamstress who made garments from body measurements. I learned how to sew from my mother, I can tell when clothing has been "rushed" with sloppy stitching, raw edges, misaligned seams, hanging thread, prints not lining up. That gets to me more than the quality of the fabric, it is the workmanship of the clothing.
Yet at same time, realistically I know not to expect that type of "intense" detailing on say a skirt for $24.99.
I know how much work it is to sew a garment from start to finish; and how time consuming it is to make sure that you sew with quality, especially where complicated patterns, double stitching, interfacing and lining is concerned. I myself could not and would not do that type of work for less than $200.00 minimum and up --- per piece, and thats on the low side of what a good seamstress would charge you - without custom measurements.
Unfortunately, some workmanship and better fabric choices will be sacrificed in order to roll this stuff out month-after-month to the masses at the prices that are making H&M a huge success. Perhaps with them bringing in interim designers every season, it will help in the quality area some.
