US Vogue April 2012 : Jennifer Lopez by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

I dont mean to be a hater but how is she relevant to get the cover? maybe a new movie to promote?
And the cover itself is nothing special, maybe the editorial will be better.

she has a single coming out this month and I think a Best Of after that, then a movie in May and an other one in October.

M&M need to shoot all of US Vogue's covers...they are exactly what the magazine needed to make it pop on the news-stands more.

me too. I've loved every cover that they've done thus far. It's not as extreme as their covers for Vogue Paris - almost as if Anna reigned them in just enough to where there is a great combination of elegance but it still has their photography aesthetic and their ultra highly saturated colors.

hopefully 2012 brings many more covers for M&M with American Vogue B)

such a stunning cover. j. lo looks incredible in pictures and in real life.

i dont mean to be offensive, i totally think it is silly if any one even question about her relevance. this girl has been making huge headline anywhere she goes. american idol wouldnt pay $15-20 mils to someone who is irrelevant in public eyes, do they?

you know what they say about fools and their money, i find her to be amongst the talentless individuals music/hollywood has offered over the last decade or so but she takes good photos.

very lovely editorial with kate moss inside (i'm about 99% sure) looking all marie-antoinette the only thing i clearly remember is a pile of givenchy boxes & kate.
i feel like i havent done my civic TFS duty by getting proper details but I only had about 30 seconds to flip through today

I am not a "J Lo" fan in the least but I find this comment completely ridiculous. She is no Meryl Streep but is still a remarkable actress (at least in non rom-com roles...) and her music talent is to excite people and make them move. Clearly her singing is not great but she is/was a great dancer.

I would in no way compare her to LA's 'talentless' female zombies.

lest we forget her heavily-promoted line with Kohl's. #barf

the facts that she has sold over 50 million albums, has over 15 fragrances, generated millions of dollars at the box office, sold a few top selling clothing lines, and turned the rating around for american idol would really prove that there are quite a lot of FOOLS in america.

JLO, for me, is the best at turning something out of nothing. She's not without talent, but her success certainly isn't reflective of her talent. It's reflective of her business sense. She's mediocre at best, but hey, the woman sells and has been a cultural icon for almost 20 years. She deserves to be on the cover of Vogue more than a lot of the other women they put on. I mean, when was the last time Gwyneth Paltrow or SJP had a good role and they still get covers. At least you can pin point how immensely successful Jennifer has been. No celeb was doing fragrance lines, clothing lines, etc. before her.

there is a huge difference between business and talent and she knows business and surrounds herself with people who are good at it too pr/marketing etc. yeah, she sold however many albums or perfumes or whatever etc etc that people bought into and liked. she's a good businesswoman that's for sure but talent imho as an actress/singer she has none.
