US Vogue September 2015 : Beyoncé by Mario Testino

WOW, there is not one good thing I can of to say regarding the cover and her edit, not one.

My only complaints are 1) why is it in black and white? and 2) I don't like the shot where she covers her face.

Underwhelming for a September cover. The ed looks like it isn't any better.

^OMG, I'm frightened. What's that thing? What's that lighting? She looks like an alien. Testino should retire. It's really disgusting. Even worse in HD.

I like it. The styling, which might overpower a cover star with less strong a presence, feels true to Beyonce's own style and is suitably grand for Vogue's biggest issue of the year. At the same time, the simple/minimal makeup look and the wet hair keep the photo from feeling overstyled and it actually looks quite intimate. I love that she isn't smiling. Easily one of the strongest September covers this year.

Honestly, the cover is the only picture I like. Besides the one where she's showing the back of the dress.

It's one of the strongest covers this year from Vogue besides Serena & Nicole's cover. Which is sad because last year in my opinion each cover was a standout. Also, what is up with only FOUR editorial photos?!!??? It's the September issue!

I hope the other editorials are better because i accidently ordered this issue on Amazon. Now i'm regret a little bit.

okay what i don't understand is how everyone knew beyonce was getting the cover!! honestly, i would rather see someone else but it could be worse so i guess i'm okay with it. the cover doesn't look like a september cover though that's for sure! i just want to see the rest of the issue to see if it's worth buying

I cannot stand Beyoncé, she's so tacky that it always baffles me why she books all this fashion covers, but in this day and age anything without Jenner/Kardashian fells like a bonus.

Great cover! Beyonce and Testino brought it.
The haters are so transparent.

The background is so cheap! Beyoncé looks like she's trying hard to stick her torso forward and suck in her stomach. It doesn't look natural. And her arm looks short... I can't imagine Anna Wintour, who they say has a brilliant eye, actually looking at this and choosing it for the cover.

Testino does not have IT anymore, and apparently no one at Vogue is able to direct him to use his older photography style. At this point Vogue is only using him because he has a name and reputation as a "celebrity" photographer, not because he produces good work. He doesn't anymore. (Same goes for Annie Leibovitz who is a monster with retouching - take away her computer!)

Not being a fan of something or someone doesn't make you a "hater" and it certainly doesn't make you transparent. People aren't obliged to like everything Beyonce does just because she's Beyonce. No one is obliged to like Testino just because he's a famous photographer. Though I personally love virtually all of her work and really like this cover and can't wait to read the article, it's unreasonable to expect everyone else to feel the same. Especially about something as subjective as fashion, music, or photography.

^Exactly. The stans/haters mentality is so petty and immature.

I like the color palette of the cover but the badly blurred background and typography leave a lot to be desired. No wonder people thought it was a fan-made cover.

I'm not really a fan of the editorial but I blame it on Testino. The over-retouching of photos to the point that it's basically digital art is an eyesore. Even the choice of shots seems a bit bizarre. I just don't understand how this is what he's become. It seems like everything he shoots is disappointing.

I do like the photo shot from behind, though.

Love the editorial. I could do without the cheap photoshopped background on the cover.

I don't know why people seem to hate the wet hair look--not just in this case, but also everywhere it appears. I think it adds something romantic and even glamorous about it. She just got out of a bath and decided to throw on whatever she had laying around. And it just happened to be an expensive gown.
