Stockholm, Sweden native Elsa Hosk began modeling at age fifteen after her father submitted photographs to a local agency at the advice of a family friend, a former model. For several years, Hosk balanced her modeling career with a professional basketball career, eventually leaving the court to pursue modeling full time.

Hosk made her runway debut during the Spring 2012 season, walking for Christian Dior, Giambattista Valli, Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta, Acne Jeans, and Joseph Altuzarra. However, she received her big break courtesy of Victoria’s Secret annual televised fashion show. Most notably, Hosk was selected to appear in numerous seasonal print and television advertising campaigns for the sportswear and intimate apparel behemoth; She served as a brand ambassador for its Pink line for two consecutive years, and recently received the company’s prestigious “Contract Angel” title.

On another note, is anyone else under the impression that Karlie wants out of VS?
She posts on her instagram about her other clients like L'oreal, Nike or DK all the time but hardly ever about VS.
I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't renew the contract.

over the next couple of weeks we'll see Karlie posting a TON of VS content, trust. she ain't going anywhere anytime soon. i think VS is in love with Karlie and they've got her pegged to be a HUGE star for them. and she knows that working with a brand like that, particularly as one of their main contracted Angels, takes her to a whole different level of success, fame and $$$.

Yeah but the difference between Karlie and other girls is that when they got their contracts it was all VS, all the time. Karlie is all over the place in what she's doing, not that it's bad but that exclusivity that used to come with being a VS Angel just seems kind of dulled with everything else she has going on. It's just another thing to add to her resume.

With the exception of Karlie/Doutzen/Adriana VS is the biggest thing the current angels have. None of them have Cosmetic Contracts or are Vogue favorites or front HF campaigns season after season. For them it is VS all the time. None of them were even big HF stars before they became VS angels like Karlie.

Considering how much VS uses Lais, why not make her an Angel? Is her English really that much of a problem? Are they really considering making Jasmine Tookes an angel or is that just a rumor? I'd choose Lais, Shanina, or Kelly Gale before Jasmine.

Her English is pretty rough. Remember in the 2013 where she had the segment discussing why she didn't walk the prior year, and Behati saying how awful she felt wearing Lais's outfit that opened Dangerous Liaison, you can hear it.

Who else does this bring to mind? Gisele.

I'm not saying Karlie is on the same level as Gisele. The fact is that nobody is (or ever has been). But, I am saying that VS is approaching Karlie's contract with probably a similar strategy. Like Gisele, Karlie will have negotiated a certain amount of freedom that allows her to capitalize on her plethora of other contracts that simultaneously benefit her profile as a VS Angel. (Actually, probably not dissimilar to Doutzen either).

Karlie and Gisele have the same agent, Anne Nelson. I believe this is how she prefers to manage them. Balancing commercial and hf, not being too one or the other.

Re the casting -

Why did VS do that 2009 runway competition?
Do you think if Kylie had been more malleable for VS they would have repeated it in subsequent years?

I know she didn't speak out/quit modelling until 2012 but perhaps she was not as malleable as VS had hoped prior that.

OR did it impact the casting process so much they just deleted it?
Imagine the other experienced models who missed out on it.

Yes, they are going to use Karlie to the max, but only if she's going to stay at the top. I like the older models much more for VS, they've got more attitude/distinction, but I think the older models like Ale, Adriana, Doutzen and Lily are going to fade away.
