I don't know if any of us can speak to specific sales, but she is probably their best known newer angel and just got that whole weird ballet special just for herself in the show. And she's just shot for them this week and she's in the actual commercial that is airing during the super bowl.

So while I doubt she's being dropped, it is still curious that she's not doing the swim special especially.

She's their best known Angel with people who follow fashion. Outside of that, she hasn't made a real impact with the average consumer. Unlike the other VS girls, I haven't seen a real following for her. Even the newer girls like Nadine and Bridget are generating more buzz with their target demographic. I personally like Karlie, and while she's grown on me with VS, she's pretty lackluster as an Angel imo.
Even if VS isn't dropping her yet, I can't see them renewing her contract, especially since she clearly negotiated out of a lot of the obligations, and phasing her out slowly.

I'm not saying she's less popular. She's obviously very well known. However, like you said, a huge part of that is due to Taylor Swift, and her following doesn't really come from VS, and I'm referring to her success only within the VS brand.

Look at the VS Instagram pages, and the pages of the execs. I constantly see young girls and women (their target demographic) asking about Bridget or Nadine, saying they should be Angels or walk the show, or why aren't they at "x" shoot. Ed posts a picture of the girls from the Super Bowl and no one is asking where Karlie is. She's certainly a well known model, I just don't think she's made the same impact within VS as the brand expected her to.

They just lost Doutzen, I think dropping Karlie will be such a bad decision, at least not until next 2 years. if they actually do it and desperately making Stella Maxwell happens instead, I don't understand this brand anymore.

I know lots of people said this already but they shouldn't let Rosie leave! Rosie - Candice are much better to be the frontrunner instead of Behati - Candice!

Those girls c an comment but there are lots of images from young models like Jac, Romee, Kelly, Nadine on their website. No need to make them angels (yet).. To young looking, but great to target young girls.
For a angel and spokesperson I don't think VS would or should drop Karlie. She is well spoken, well known, America's sweetheart, lot's of followers and bff with Taylor.

Doutzen, Miranda, Rosie they were classic angels. But yeah I don't get this brand either anymore. Stella a is a total bore for me.

come to think of it - has Karlie done VS Swim since she was made an Angel? I know maybe 3 years ago she was in the catalogue, but that was before she signed her Angel contract. it might have just been a stipulation in her contract that she wasn't part of Swim. maybe it occupies too much shooting time and would interfere with her other projects.

IIRC, Karlie's last work with swim with the 2013 Swim Launch that she did all the events for. However, Ale doesn't have a swim contract either, plus she has a competing line, and was still involved in the special, so it's strange she wasn't included.

About Ale; I don't think her line would hurt VS. Unlike H&M that is a big well know all over the world brand, Ale's is not. Doutzen could do H&M, L'Oréal, Karlie has L'Oréal, Adriana Maybelline, Candice Max Factor, maybe she also wanted to do something extra?

But time will tell about Karlie. She may be not have a killer body like Candice, but i think it's great to have different body types.

I don't think Karlie is going anywhere. She'll never be their main angel, but they knew that she was an in-demand HF model before signing her. I don't see them letting her go for at least another three years.

They are the only ones people who don't follow fashion know too. Lily and Behati have like 2 million followers each, Elsa has 780k, and Lais has 280k. Miranda has more than all of them combined

I can't think of any possible future angels who are as internet or real-life famous as Candice or Karlie. I guess Jourdan and Joan are the closest, but they still have only around 1.2 mil followers each, and I don't think they're known by the general public either. I think VS really missed out with Barbara because along with being cute and sexy, she is pretty famous on the internet (3 mil followers) and I have seen her posted on several non-fashion forums.

Kendall and Cara has more followers that all of the Angels combined and they even on VS's radar. VS for the most part with a few exceptions perfer to take unknown models and groomed into stars.

The ratings for 2014 VSFS were down from last years show. That means the ratings didn't rise despite all of the hype around Karlie and Taylor's friendship, havint two Fantasy Bra wearers in Adriana and Ale, rumors of both of them retiring, revealing the cast, costumes, and segments, Behati opening for the first time, and moving the show to London.

They honestly need to upload it to their channel right after it airs, most people look for it there, I know they offer it on the CBS website but still... their demo doesn't really check there first plus we can see how many viewers the show actually gets.

As long as they keep the steady 9-10 in viewers on the original airing as they've had for the last 5-6 years they should be fine. At the end of the day VS is a staple in American pop culture, everyone might not follow them like crazy and know about the Angels friendships, who wears the fantasy bra, who opens and what not but they know about them.

I actually think their current Superbowl commercial is brilliant, sell the overall brand and that little pink bag, they all know what it means... sex. Get all those hot blooded drunk American guys who are watching all this fast paced action and tackling to switch gears for a second... they like sports but they like the goods as well, they already had sports and action for over 3 quarters of the night... time to slow it down and make the rest of it about something else they want.

This year will be the 20th year of the Fashion Show. They better be preparing something really really really really special, though. Like making it special 2 hours, having the previous angels on the runway (like Laetitia, Gisele, Karolina, Stephanie. No need Tyra or Heidi because I'm bias. lol), have all current angels wear fantasy bra or whatever.

If it's going to be same old things and they will only say: "this year, we will have 50 models walking, the biggest number of the history of our fashion show" again, I'm soooo not gonna watch it. I don't think most people will too. The show is getting really boring now. Even Adriana & Alessandra looked like Behati's minion at the last fashion show.

That's still good but given the overall nature of them revealing everything and hype I expected better. You're right about the show not going to be anywhere and the ratings are always are going be in the 9-10 million viewer range.

How did you come to the conclusion that I was saying VS chose angels based on social media followers? I was looking at the popularity of the current and newer angels on social media, in case you couldn't comprehend my post.
