WALKING TALL

As the Fall 2007 fashion marathon draws to a close in Paris, it's becoming clear which of the hundreds of models we've seen on the catwalks have staying power. Some faces, including Diana Moldovan, Kinga Rajzak, and Alyona Osmanova, were around in previous seasons but really broke out this time around.

Of the crop of newcomers we first saw in New York, Kasia Struss and Tanya Chubko went on to big bookings in Europe, with Kasia becoming virtually omnipresent on the runway.

In Milan, Prada lived up to its star-making potential, as virtual unknowns Irina Kulikova and Anabela went 1-2 in the show and have been seen in all the right places since. Also worth a mention is Catherine McNeil. After skipping New York to shoot British Vogue with Mario Testino, she has racked up a slew of blue-chip bookings in Milan and Paris.

^Very interesting article.

Looks like they might be considering break through seasons, in addition to first seasons. This makes my list even harder to finalize at this point! Thanks Bianca!

^ I'd say they always do (consider breakthroughs rather than strictly newcomers).

These are my locks regardless of what happens from now to Sunday.

Catherine McNeill
Irina Kulikova
Diana Moldovan
Kasia Struss
Olga Sherer
Alyona Osmanova

I'm not so sure about the Johannas, but I guess one of them will make it... Judging by that article I assume Kinga and Anabela have a good shot, and Tanya too, although I'm quite surprised they mentioned her. Pantoliano, Laragh, Barsukova, and maybe even Masha for being the Paris surprise girl, should also be in the mix.

But to my personal, very subjective Top 10 list I'd go with the six above and add Denisa Dvorakova, Johanna Jonsson, Anabela, and Rachel Clark.

Tanya Chubko? She hasn't been doing that well in Paris...

But otherwise, a good glimpse into a great list

Yes i would pick exactly the same 6 girls + Carolina Pantoliano, Johanna Jonsson.
Out of the girls we have already seen on the catwalk for few season I would definitely go for Kinga Rajzak (she was everywhere) and Anna Barsukova had also a grat season. My secret wish goes for Alexandra Tomlinson - nobody mentioned her in this thread but she was also doing more than good this season.
I think they might put on the list Georgia Frost, Sheila Marquez though i would not do it.
PS: I absolutely adore Denisa Dvorakova but due to her absence in NY (she was at the EML final by that time) i dont believe in my wildest dream she will make it to the top 1O. And i have a feeling she did better last season :innocent: .

^ Yeah.. I don't think Denisa stands a chance, she didn't quite boom like I hoped and expected. But she's still on my list. ^_^

I'm fairly surprised at Denisa's lack of appearances in Paris...The Johanna's aren't being received as well as expected, either.

The ones doing the best in Paris so far are Alyona, Catherine, Kasia, and Olga S. (Are her previous seasons still factors, I wonder?). Diana M's close behind, and Kinga (If she counts) is also having a great showing.

I have also expected much more but we never know what is going on in behind. But in this case i am pretty sure we will see much more of her soon. She is still 15 or just turned 16 so got plenty of time...

I'm so torn right now. This season really is proving to be the most difficult to navigate in terms of new faces, and breakout seasons, both of which seems to be equally influential.

Now, I'm totally biased. I would love nothing more than for Kinga Rajzak to make an appearence on the list. So, I'm thinking that if Aloyna is going to make the list, then Kinga could stand a chance for an appearence. Thus the gambling begins as to whether or not these two should be considered. In some ways though, I was to justify it and say: "if Olga Sherer is eligable, shouldn't Aloyna and Kinga be as well?" Both girls have had amazing seasons, which were far more impressive than some of the newer girls that I'm looking at. Which means that I have to now reevaluate Anna Barsukova as well.

Basically, I still can't produce a Top Ten list yet. I've just got piles of paper with show lists, girls to watch, and all that. All I can do is make one last Hot/Watch list for my own well-being and then in the next couple of days, hammer out the Top Ten list...

Hot/Lock List :woot: :
Catherine McNeil, Kasia Struss, Irina Kulikova, Olga Sherer, Aloyna Osmanova, Kinga Rajzak

Watch/Good Odds List B) :
Johanna Strickland, Carolina Pantoliano, Diana Moldovan, Anna Barsukova, Johanna Jonsson, Rachel Clark, Sheila Marquez, Laragh McCann, Georgia Frost

I'd say Catherine McNeil, Kasia Struss, Irina Kulikova, Diana Moldovan and one of the Johannas will definitely be on the list.

There hasn't been a lock stronger than Catherine McNeil since Gemma Ward/Daria Werbowy I believe. She is IN IN IN, it'll just be interesting to see where she goes from here, I think she really has potential to be the next HUGE thing.

What about Sofi in the top ten, I really discounted her and felt she had a zero percent chance, but she just did YSL, Lanvin, Nina Ricci, and she might have just opened Louis Vuitton. She also did Marc Jacobs in New York, I'm just thinking her chances aren't that great because the only major show she did in Milan was Marni.

What about a big tFS favorite Ali Michael? For someone so young she sure went over to Paris and rocked the house.:woot:

Ok, so the shows are all finished. Time for the real guessing to start. Here's my guess for style.com's top 10.

Lara Stone - Yes, a repeat, but hello!
Catherine McNeil - Does a bear doodoo in the woods?
Irina Kulikova - Opening Prada and some other shows, has a great shot I think.
Kasia Struss - She did basically all the right shows. That, and she is amazing.
Olga Sherer - Opening Dior, Marc Jacobs, doing whatnot shows. A real breakthrough girl. (This season's Iekeliene so to say)
Johanna Stickland - She left a great impression on me in Paris and didn't she have a Calvin Klein exclusive in New York?
Alyona Osmanova - This season's Daiane, but this one HAS to be on the top 10.
Kinga Rajzak - Another breakthrough girl of this season. She has great runway presence, even with those weird calves.
Diana Moldovan - Amazing in New York, less amazing in Europe, but still an overall amazing.

Now the tenth spot is hard...wil they go with girls that left a huge impression but didn't do all that much, like Masha Tyelna, Sheila Marquez or Anabela. Perhaps they will do another repeat, which would be worthy for Suvi Koponen. Or a breakthrough model such as Anna Barsukova? Or the second Johanna? Will they cater to tFS and include Ali Michael after opening Lanvin? It could be a new girl like Danielle Hamm, but I am gonna go with Carolina Pantoliano. She ruled London and had a lot of right shows in the rest of the cities.

Never was it harder to make this list than now I notice...

LOVE sheilsa marquez but I'm guessing she is this year's Denisa Dvorakova, just a little under the radar to nab a top ten spot. She did do Gucci, Balenciaga and LV though, so who knows, she has a great shot.

What about Han? They totally bypassed her these past seasons but you couldn't deny she was everywhere.

Lara had a great season, she and Catherine were the stars of the season, but I'm not sure if Style.com will repeat with her.

I'd say right now the locks are Catherine, Irina K, Kasia, Diana M, Johanna, Alyona

I wonder if Jourdan Dunn will make an appearance on the list? She did fairly well in New York. (Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger) She didn't do that many shows in Europe, but she was at Giles, Sportmax and Dries, so you never know. :flower:

I agree about Catherine. She's pretty much a lock, basicaly popping out of nowhere and opening at least half the shows she was in..and the weren't small shows either. Diana Moldovan will probably make an appearance as well. I'm thinking Georgia Frost will make the list also. She didn't do as many shows as we thought she would, but she did have all that hype around her, including some from style.com itself, so that could be enough to get her a spot.

Ok, here is my guess.

Catherine McNeill
Irina Kulikova
Olga Sherer
Kasia Struss
Alyona Osmanova
Diana Moldovan
Kinga Rajzak
Johanna Stickland
Anabela

That leaves one spot that I think Pantoliano has deserved, and my second realistic guess would probably be Sheila Marquez, but I'm going to gamble and guess it goes to Masha Tyelna for showing up from nowhere in Paris.

Also, I think Johanna J has a better show record than Stickland (am I right, Faith?), but style.com are still having trouble ID:ing her, that can't be a good sign. And I only think one Johanna will make the list.
.

^Yes you are!

Locks:

Diana Moldovan (73 shows, 33 in Milan/Paris)
Kasia Struss (70 shows, 35 in Milan/Paris)
Catherine McNeil (32 shows, 31 in Milan/Paris)
Alyona Osmanova (55 shows, 31 in Milan/Paris)
Carolina Pantoliano (38 shows, 19 in Milan/Paris)
Johanna Jonsson (29 shows, 28 in Milan/Paris)
Johanna Stickland (29 shows, 9 in Milan/Paris)
Irina Kulikova (23 shows, 22 in Milan/Paris)

Hopefully:
Olga Sherer (71 shows, 34 in Milan/Paris)
Kinga Rajzak (54 shows, 30 in Milan/Paris)

^These depend on Style.com's generosity about past seasons, though...

Other possibilities:

Anabela, Rachel Clark, Sofi Berelidze, Sheila Marquez, Alexandra Tomlinson, Ali Michael, Danielle Hamm, Masha Tyelna

I already changed my mind. I sense in my big toe that Sheila Marquez will be on that list. But I don't know who to remove... 'tis too hard. :(

My bets:
-Irina Kulikova
-Kasia Struss
-Johanna Stickland
-Anabela
-Diana Moldovan
-Olga Scherer
-Catherine McNeil
-Carolina Pantoliano
-Alyona Osmanova
-Laragh McCann

^_^ So when does this list come out, exactly?
