I've been sitting all day (how sad) thinking of celebrities who hypenated surnames, and then with a tragedy and ... i can't come up with anything. I even thought SJP, but that isn't really a hyphenated name lol, and i wouldn't begin to know what her tragedy would be apart from her face.

^I think they mean multi-hyphenate as someone who has multiple occupations in the industry - as in someone who's an actor-director-producer, like Clint Eastwood or Barbra Streisand.

Yes, it could. I racked my brain trying to think of someone, but the only names that came to mind were SJP (that you already mentioned) and Catherine Zeta Jones, but they don't fit the rest of the description.

She Faked it for the Sympathy

BlindGossip – A few years back, this multi-hyphenate was a media darling. She was on TV all the time, she dated singers and actors and athletes, and she swept the awards shows. At the peak of her fame, however, tragedy struck. Well… not really… but it did get her a lot of press. Turns out that the clever girl was faking it. So while the fans held their collective breath, hoping against hope that their darling, innocent girl would pull through from this horrible event, piling accolades upon her, and marveling at how she managed to muster the energy to perform and to go to hospitals and visit sick children during her own tragedy, it turns out she was simply recovering from a case of “exhaustion”. But, hey, she did manage to squeeze in photo ops of her visiting sick children in hospitals, helping to visualize what it would be like to be well. What a good person she must be!

Some guesses from the comments on BlindGossip: Kylie Minogue, Sheryl Crow (I actually thought of this one but she's not exactly multi-hyphenate), Delta Goodrem (never heard of her - she's an Australian singer), Jennifer Love Hewitt (fits the BI to a tee), Lily Allen, Mariah Carey (also thought of this one, but what would her tragedy be? Her meltdown?), Toni Braxton.

i'm biased though so i don't want it to be her. and i wouldn't even believe a person i absolutely despise would fake cancer or was there another tragedy in her life? and i wouldn't describe cancer as a horrible 'event' either.

i don't know why, but i think she might've dated some australian athlete, just can't remember which one.

EDIT: i just remembered who dated an athlete and musicians, Sheryl Crow.
EDIT no.2: scrap Sheryl too, ppl are guessing it's a musician Delta Goodrem, i don't have a clue who she is, but judging by her wiki page she fits all the clues.

^Yes, she was one of the guesses, but she's not really multi-hyphenate. Being a singer-songwriter-musician is nothing really so outstanding (many other musicians are too). But otherwise she's a great guess.

as i was googling "kylie dating an athlete" i stumbled upon this BI on another page and they say it's Delta G.
yeah, CHeryl's "just" a singer.

Delta was in a oz soap called neighbours, she then launched a music career and had some relative success in the UK, she then got with Brian, and i think they went to ostraya, and now i think she experiences success there with her music career and her profile. but i could be wrong.

i'd hate it to be her, i always thought she was nice

This former B list female tween singer with one hit is now an actress/singer who probably gets more auditions than anyone in town. Why? Well she is still very young although now legal, and is known for being very very accommodating to producers. So accommodating in fact that she went from barely getting any work to getting parts in five different movies all within about a month.

This former A list reality star with a couple of her own shows to her credit was at Sundance. While there she rang up about $6000 in hair styling bills. When presented with the bill she said, "Umm, I usually get everything for free." The shop was not impressed with her cries that she would bring them fabulous publicity and they wouldn't even give her a discount.
