Project Runway Season 9

Regarding Bert, one of the commenters on the last TLo post really nailed it. To paraphrase: "What do you get when you sober up an a-hole? A sober a-hole."

I'll be honest that I don't really focus on the show like I used to until they get to the runway. They seem to show less of the clothes and more of the drama.I guess I saw it as they were trying to throw him under the bus. I mean, true he may have been difficult to work with, but that is no excuse IMO why your garment has camel toe and camel butt. I just hate when a group always singles out one person as the reason why all the outfits are not constructed well.

I mean they tried that last season (I think) which Michael C in one, if not the best runway evaluations in the history of the show (drama wise). And why does it seem like the person who majority rules was the week link, constructs the best outfit.

I don't know why Heidi was so shocked that Nina & Michael considered past performance, and it isn't just worst outfit that eliminates a contestant.

Heck even this season, in the pet store challenge Josh C's outfit was no where near as bad as Bryce's toilet thing, but because he was in the bottom 2, the week before he was eliminated. Or who could forget Emilio's washer-bikini.

^Yeah, I don't know where Heidi came up with that whole thing. This is not Top Chef. Eliminations have always been at least partly based on past performance/potential.

I finally saw it! I thought Burt was unprofessional and childish. I just hope he doesn't keep getting away w it. It's not like he's a great talent either. Everything I've seen from him so far is just plain and boring (except maybe for the 1st week dress). As for Heidi's opinion, I agree w you. It's been always about their overall performance. And I think it was the fair decision to make. But I might be biased because I really like Anthony...

Heidi is making up her own rules now, not sure if it's to keep the show fresh or she's simply losing track of things because she's got 9 million other things she has her hands involved with.

I think Bert is difficult, I labeled him crotchety in my prior post. But I agree with what he says. Like when Viktor was trying to go for a "sexy Queen Victoria look" a few episodes back and Bert noted that Queen Victoria wore only black and was in mourning for 50 years...he was absolutely right. I had no idea where Viktor was going with that, it didn't make any sense. And Bert won more points from me when he stood up to Josh. There are a bunch of other sewing machines in the room, Josh. they weren't assigned sewing machines and it's not like Josh was using it when Bert took it.

That's true. I just think his ego is way over-inflated... which makes him pretentious and condescending. He could be nicer with his words... no one knows ALL the information in the world.

^Lol.
But in all seriousness, this is a b*tch infested season really.

Unexpectedly Becky scored points with me when she stumbled up some stairs into the make-up consultation room or something, it was a short moment though.
And tacky Josh' "40 to death"-quote was unforgivable. Miss Mean Keeping it real, ugh.

Yes, it's all about his delivery. I don't see him getting any nicer though

Josh doesn't bother me as much as Bert.

I actually found Josh funny this epi.

"Go DIE!? You're closer to death than I am!"

(this is where tfs members shall insert their omg how do you find him funny remarks here)

As far as design wise. I did not like Bryce's dress. The silhouette has been done before (um versace 2008 spring summer look number 8) just with differen't fabric and add buttons.

Anya's maxi dress was not pretty. Who wants a big ol orange landing strip doing their body!?

I did like Victor's jacket a lot though

^And then Bert was like "I would rather choose death than to be around you" or something.
I'm kinda thinking it was scripted... can people really be this bitchy and witty?

I didn't like Josh from the "get-go" (learned that word from Anthony )... with his over-plucked eyebrows, ridiculous hairdo, and "queen" persona

My favorite is Olivier, not so much for his designs, but his quietness.

I'm kind of surprised that judges aren't calling the designers out for these things. Remember a few seasons back they actually called out Kenley's references to Alexander McQueen and Balenciaga? It's like somebody decided it would be free advertising for those brands and these guys get away with copycat designs - which really doesn't help the credibility of these designers in the long run, which in turn doesn't help the credibility of the show. And unlike something like America's Next Top Model, I think PR has a far more real impact on the fashion industry than Tyra's show.

I loved that bit. It was so funny. It was literally the first and only time that I've noticed her and kinda liked her.:lol::lol:

Nina Garcia complained on Twitter after the first or second episode (the pet store one) that the show edited out the real reason she didn't think the birdseed dress should have won, which was that it was too referential. I'd think it would bring added drama to leave it in, but what do I know? We did see her call out Anthony Ryan on the red Gucci knockoff. (But it was right after he won, so the sting was lessened, I'm sure.)

I just realized that we haven't heard a lot from Michael Kors this season, but I can imagine that he's had something to say about all the knockoffs as well. So yes, it's entirely possible that the editing monkeys are editing that stuff out for whatever reason. If this season's casting is any indication, it might be because they don't care about having a show that has fashion world cachet; they just want a Real World wannabe that will bring in huge ratings and make them some money.

I really like Olivier :) I like his attitude and I like what he does. I felt soooo bad when he felt on the track :(
Bert is just plain childish. Clapping and celebrating? That's something my 7 years old sister would do. (Yes yes I got the last sticker, and you haven't!!)

"I haven't been this pissed since I got cancer". Only on Project Runway..

haha i couldn't find it on youtube so i just said hell with it and recorded it. i honestly laughed out loud the first time i saw it. Becky is good for those little remarks in the diary room but idk for the competition.

i question project runway's taste level this season. actually, i haven't fully seen an entire season since christian "fierce ****** hot mess" siriano won, but i've unfortunately have been forcing myself to watch this season.

bert really doesn't bother me a whole lot as much as josh m. or anthony ryan does. i don't hate people, i'm not a hateful person, but man, with his over-processed tan and queenie meanie persona and commentary, josh makes my blood boil.

the only people i kinda like still competing are kimberly and sometimes victor, oliver, and becky. personality wise, there are a lot of crazies this season, so that's a big turn-off for me. pre-show, julie was my favorite because i LOVED her preliminary collection she showed before becoming one of the contestants, but this show was obviously NOT for her. i could definitely see her designing for patagonia or north face or something.
