I still don't understand what the big deal is about who is or isn't an 'angel'.
Why always the same question? For fans it IS important, just like to someone who loves HF (like me) is important who opens a show, or makes certain campaigns... Don't bash over this, just because it's VS! I'm pretty disappointed with VS nowadays, to be honest, but I share the worries about all this "Angel Issue", as a fan at first sight of this company! I just wish they would take a f***in' break for a year or more, decide what they want to do...and then renew the contracts they should and find some new decent girls. Only when VS accepts this makeover will I regain my full respect...
We care about who's an angel or not because it's an important part of Victoria's Secret reign...Why always the same question? But VS isn't a high-fashion label. They are basically JC Penneys (their words, not mine.)
Simply put, models don't make Victoria's Secret successful; their clothing sales do.
But the models are the ones who make the clothing attractive to people, this is the very definition of commercial modeling. It is the models in the commercials, catalogs, on the web site and on store signage that generate interest
To an extent, but you could crop the heads out of the pictures and the sales would be the same. The general public doesn't know or care what the models' names are. None of the names are mentioned in any of the catalogs or on the site that I know of. The "Angel's" aspect and the televised show seem to be a separate entity from the actual sales of merchandise.
'Cause I don't think we were... We were talking about F-A-N-S!!! People that look beyond the bras and panties... I don't even have anything from VS (there's not a store physical nor online in my country), but I care about the media, the shows, the angels... That's what appeals me! Not the fittings... I know that's really important, and that sales make a brand, but that's not the only thing that matters. I doubt VS would have been so successful if they didn't start making a annual show, using ANGELS (Stephanie, Tyra, Karen and all the others) that were approachable to the public, they made a big deal about models! When people broadcast or watch VS shows, especially in the past, they wanted to see MODELS+underwear! Not just underwear. The fact that they really USED models, instead of just making them hangers, clearly means that they care for them way more than you're suggesting! For the company, it is a big deal who's an Angel or not! That's just the way I see it, but I'm not an insider, I can be wrong...
They would just be like La Perla or other lingerie brand...sales? yeah... But no way as much!!! Models DO make VS successful, because they attract people! Period!
I disagree with your first sentence and last sentence, but I agree with the middle. I agree that the general public does not know the VS Angels names* nor do they care who is an angel or not, but that does not mean that they do not respond to specific models and that VS is not capable of tracking that information. To an extent, but you could crop the heads out of the pictures and the sales would be the same. But you said that you are looking at things from the fan standpoint and not sales. I really and truly don't mean this in a snotty or disrespectful way, but that point of view is pretty meaningless to the company. Fans are spending time trying to analyze the website and trying to figure out the categories and who is in the categories and what is the official word and who are reliable sources, etc., and what may seem messy to fans may be necessary for the bottom line as they try to figure out which model moves product. I guess my question to you is that when you say that they are lost, are you referring to them being lost in such a way that they are losing sales?I wasn't complaining about the models they hire...I'm complaining about the mess VS has got themselves to...Personally, I think they are kind of lost, not only Angel-wise, but also their shows and catalogues... That's just my opinion... As a fan, I worry about that! It's not because I don't like this or that model, it's generic, the whole idea of throwing new girls and see if they stick or not. They are trying to MAKE Angels... Imo, an Angel is BORN with it, the looks, the personality, the it factor! They won't even let the girls grow in the public...![]()

At least they are not wasting as much money as they were in the past in the million dollar bra, in the shows... Just saying... But I was referring to being lost in terms of ideas, actually! Just because a brand has good sales, that doesn't mean they aren't lost...I believe that they were actually loosing sales, to be honest! At least they are not wasting as much money as they were in the past in the million dollar bra, in the shows... They are not lost on ideas, they are just not ideas that you like.
I don't think so!
