I guess they didn't announce it before to avoid a clash of attention (Adriana leaving/Barbara signing) at the same time. It's smart.

I wouldn't use that video to guess when she was signed, because they already released a casting video with that little clip. However, she mentions on People that she has been keeping this secret for 3 months, so December is more accurate.

It's kind of sad that she is being signed now, mainly because they want people to forget about how they messed up last year with all the nonsense Ed said. It's clear that Barbara is a fan favourite and this is damage control.

I agree with Marc10, she was already working for VS years ago. They're only doing this now because of her new relationship. That's not to say she doesn't deserve it, I am sure she must be very excited.
