It's on the 30th in LA. I think last year they had a launch where the girls wore swimsuits and then a party later that night. Adriana and Ale are the only confirmed ones for now, but I'm sure Candice will pop up because she's like 99.9% of the Swim catalogue.

Just as you don't know if that guy's comments are true, you don't even know what time that picture was taken. It could have been taken that morning for all you know. There's a pile full of doubt there, and you're still using that as the basis of your argument against Lily. Victoria's Secret themselves have posted proof that people showed up for Lily's solo event. Period.

No one is saying that NOBODY showed up. I just said that very few many people came. Had you been to any launches, you would know that they don't set up lines until at least an hour in advance to it starting; by then it should be full of people waiting to meet their angels. Why would the person make lies about VS staff asking for people to come in? Period.

Erin and Candice did an event in Dallas last September.

Why does anyone lie? Many reasons, one of them being that they know there will always be someone that will believe them. I won't begrudge you your opinion though as you're most certainly entitled to it. Personally, I'm going to go with the Victoria's Secret posted evidence that Lily's launch was not, as you claim, unsuccessful.

Keep in mind Press is hired before hand...they just don't show up at an event.

Are they hired beforehand or invited? My guess is that VS would rather have press coverage than fan turnout because coverage by local media / bloggers is free advertising, and on that basis Lily's visit to Toronto was successful because just going by what was posted in her thread her visit was covered by at least seven or eight media outlets, which leads into this question:

There was one not too long ago when Chanel went to Dallas for the Super Bowl but most of their events seem to be in the big media towns: New York, Los Angeles and now Toronto.

but the problem i see with the VS girls is that they seem to pick the girls who seemingly pop up out of nowhere. Honestly, before VS I have never heard of Lily A.

Ricardo Tisci, Carine Roitfeld and Miuccia Prada do the same thing; they, along with VS, are the leaders / tastemakers in the fashion industry. VS is a commercial / catalog company and it makes sense that they would try out models who have been successful in the commercial and catalog arena. I hope that they don't become too dazzled by their increasing cred with the high fashion crowd that they don't continue to look for new faces / angels among the anonymous ranks of commercial models like they did with Heidi, Lily, Candice, Marisa, Selita, Miranda and others.

Im so tired of Brazilians for VS, this and that, best of the best, sexiest of the sexiest, ah aha those bodies, ah ah those faces, ah ah they have it all, ah ah they just cant do wrong lol and so on, so overrated.

Glad VS is using more Americans although I hope they wont end up having just US girls. Some variety would be great. A couple of Americans, a Brazilian, Europeans, etc.

Aside from the online only extended promo videos like Candice's stringkini, Lindsay's topless bikini, and Miranda's cotton lingerie, the last solo commercial to air on TV was Alessandra's pink friday commercial in fall of 2009. Before that, it was a Miranda Dream Angels commercial earlier that same year.

True. Some of their events don't even have fan portions for them. They're just all about getting press. In Lily's case, she had both (good press and good turn-out), so she was successful in both areas.

I travel a lot for work, and I've seen so many VS stores that would be good for events - way better than Dallas which was so random when Erin and Candice went. They can go to San Francisco and use the Powell Street store. That's in an awesome locale. The Las Vegas store that Izabel had an event at doesn't get used. The Boston store in Quincy Market is super small so they can't do a fan event, but there's so many photo-op opportunities they could use in the area. If you've ever been to the Mall of America in Minneapolis, that place is screaming for an event. I haven't been to the Hawaii store, but they haven't used an angel there since Marisa opened it. I wish they'd go there again. None of those places I mentioned are small cities. They can still focus on the big markets primarily, but VS could be doing so much more in terms of maximizing the variety of their locations.

I saw Lindsay's commercial last night (long before this debate here) and was like wtf? she looked terrible, the last thing I want is some non-sexy stick selling me lingerie. VS needs to get it together, especially if they're giving out solo-commercials like its nothing. I agree that there should be variety among the girls, but there's no denying that the Brazilians definitely do have the best bodies, face, and absolute charm out there.


and I agree with everyone, VSFS should definitely take note of MDFT! especially considering that they don't have HALF the money that VS does, and still seems like they were able to put on a good show with really cool looking costumes and a fantastic cast.

I don't care so much about where the model comes from, I just know that no teeny bopper has the same effect on my buying lingerie as a Stephanie Seymour could/can.
I'm all about the sex appeal. Little lolitas only make me feel old (and I'm only 25,lol) so I like the Tyra,Heidi,Gisele,Adriana,Ale,Marisa appeal much better than the Behati,Lindsay etc..appeal. Candice and Rosie have got "it". I like Lily though, she doesn't look like a little teenager. Erin has gotten better as well imo. The others just look like PINK girls and should stay there, or in hf.

Language barrier doesn't bother me so much but whenever I am watching a youtube vid of one of the Brazilians my friends always ask me wtf I'm listening to, turn that volume down. It can be rude but it does seem to turn some people off.

I think that there are two separate issues, one is the VSFS and the other is VS angels / contract models. I think that if VS put out a similar promo for the last two or three VSFS, they would look sexy too, they would just trend younger and blonder. I like the edgier vibe of Monange but I don't know if it is because I like it better or because it is fresher, nevertheless it may take VS a while to break itself out of the habit of bald, black guys singing to blond chicks , and its going to be even that much more difficult if the ratings continue to be high for that set up. Also I thought I was the one of the only ones who liked models dancing around on stage with singers, I guess I'm not as lonely as I thought.
