When I read about Kate Winslet splitting from her husband, I at once thought of that blind about the director who was jealous of the success of his A-list actress wife and had asked a director friend to not hire her for a role she wanted badly. well that would explain the "quick" resolvement of their marriage (how it appears to us outsiders anyway).
though, i don't get mendes if it's true, i mean he's one of the most appreciated directors out there, though his last movie (away we go) didn't go well with the critics, i loved it though, it was in top 3 movies of 2009 for me.

I dunno... Kate hasn't really worked since making Revolutionary Road, which was filmed in 2007/2008. Supposedly she stopped taking roles to work on her marriage, which has been in trouble/over for a while now (remember her gushing about Leo and a quick thank to Sam at the GGs?)... it's rumored that they've been split for 6 months but are just announcing the divorce now.

I don't know what Untitled Comedy on her imdb is but I haven't seen any news or pics of her filming since winning the Oscar a year ago. I don't think she's been actively seeking out roles.

^^well Afleck is more known as an actor than a director, Jennifer is nowhere near A-list and from all I've read, he's the one feeling trapped and wanting out, so I don't think it's them.

Quinto is pretty much openly gay.

I don't think Kate seeks role so much as fall in love with some scripts. She could not work for ten years and not care but when she wants a role she really got to have it. So I would think her husband making sure that doesn't happens could me a huge dealbreaker, more so than with another actress.

Yes exactly, it has nothing to do with her claiming to have 'class'.
But I still wish she would use another term for that kind of situations. Calling somebody's death 'smut' is crass, whichever way you look at it.Well, apart from the 'minivan majority', but in this case she definitely has a point.
