Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2014 *Please see first post before posting*

The 19th annual Victoria’s Secret fashion show on Dec. 2 will debut some big changes.

For one thing, the annual invitation-only event is moving to London for the first time, to the Earls Court Exhibition Centre. The show will feature more outfits (79, compared with last year’s 69) and more models (47, versus last year’s 40) than ever before. This year, not one but two Dream Angels Fantasy Bras will sparkle down the runway — featuring a mix of rubies, diamonds, sapphires and 18-karat gold — modeled by veteran Victoria’s Secret Angels Alessandra Ambrosio and Adriana Lima and worth a cool $2 million each. And finally, Victoria’s Secret is calling for a black-tie dress code this year for all guests, apropos of the show’s theme, which is loosely (very loosely) based on Truman Capote’s famous Black and White Ball in Manhattan in 1966.

The show will air on CBS on Dec. 9.

Last week, Ambrosio, Candice Swanepoel and Lily Donaldson were seen working the cameras at Victoria’s Secret’s Manhattan headquarters, on hand for fittings and behind-the-scenes footage. WWD got an exclusive preview of one of Donaldson’s outfits during a preliminary fitting — a Swarovski-encrusted purple-winged fairy, comprised of 150,000 Swarovski crystals — which its Parisian designer, Serkan Cura, estimated weighs about 40 pounds. Though Swarovski crystals will adorn 29 total runway looks, Donaldson’s is the main Swarovski spectacle.

This year marks Cura’s second time designing looks for the show. He said the design process for the Victoria’s Secret show allows him a sense of freedom that his line of couture, which he’s showed on the Paris schedule since spring 2012, does not. “In my couture shows, you can do some things, but you have rules,” he said, as he adjusted Donaldson’s corset. “But here, you say, ‘Can we make this?’ And [Victoria’s Secret] says, ‘Sure, what do you want?’ It’s all about your vision.”

He held up a small, bedazzled fragment of the wing, which he said took five hours to make. “We are here to dream, to see something completely different. It’s 60 minutes of showtime, but you go somewhere.…You’re transported. Voilà.”

As she practiced her walk, Donaldson was cheered on by Sophia Neophitou, the collection’s creative director, and Monica Mitro, the show’s executive producer. The runway will be divided into six different style categories — Gilded Angels, Exotic Traveler, Dream Girl, Fairy Tale, University of Pink and Angel Ball — with Donaldson’s Swarovski look appearing in the Fairy Tale portion.

It’s her fifth time walking the show, but Donaldson, repped by IMG, said she still gets nervous. Her greatest fear? “Falling over,” she said. “But I don’t want to say that out loud — I don’t want to tempt fate.”

The 27-year-old British model, who will wear two different looks on the runway, said she’s excited about the event’s new location in her hometown. “It always felt so detached from England — you don’t really have things like this in England,” she said. “But I think [London’s] going to really embrace it. I think it’s going to be a kind of crazy thing over there.”

Each year, the bar is set competitively high for both veteran Victoria’s Secret Angels and newer faces, who must endure a rigorous casting process. “All of the girls are like, athletes *— it’s pretty crazy,” Donaldson said, adding that Pilates is her workout of choice. “I definitely eat healthier. It’s a good incentive. You almost want to have the show twice a year, so that you have this goal to be as fit as you possibly can. It’s a good goal to have.”

Donaldson, who recently appeared on the covers of Vogue Korea and Harper’s Bazaar Korea and walked a select few shows this past spring season, said she enjoys playing the part of the Victoria’s Secret Angel.

“It’s all about being sexy and embracing your femininity and being a woman — being this Amazonian woman,” she said. “It’s quite strong for women, I think.”

Lily looks amzing! Her outfit looks great, the colors complement Lily very well. If only they removed that thing covering her stomach.

Lily's outfit is beautiful, not too OTT. All the outfits so far have been great, not a single costume-y one in sight, might have to do with that guy who got cut from the show last year, the one who did some work for Katy Perry.

The themes seem nice and nothing too silly.

- Gilded Angels must be an all gold one, makes sense based on some of the wings.
- Exotic Traveler is is where the FB's will be in, glad they didn't name it Arabian Nights
-Dream Girl I'm not sure.... it can go so many ways, I think Lily A's costume is for Angel Ball
- Fairy Tale where Lily D's outfit will appear on.
- University of Pink is self explanitory
- Angel Ball should be all black and white a la 2008's "Black Tie Holiday"

With 79 outfits, each segment should have about 13 girls each, with one having 14 which I assume would be PINK.

If all the Angels get 3 outfits as per the norm (8 Angels, 24 looks) = 55 outfits and 39 girls left.

If all the Pink girls get 1 outfit like last year that will knock down the number of girls drastically depending on how long that section is.

I'm surprised we haven't really seen any sketches till now, they usually release them with the press release. Same with the performers.... how long before the show did we know Taylor was performing last year?

I'm secretly hoping for Beyonce in 1 segment and 1 solo performance (she's re-releasing her album in late November with 2 new songs) and 1D for Pink. That's enough star power to draw in the ratings and performers in only 2 segments leaving the other 4 to have a nice remix. Knowing VS they'll chose whatever person has a hot song at the moment and saturate every segment with live performers. Anyways enough of my rant, the show seems very promising this year.

Last year we knew the performers the day before the show if I remember well.

I want to see her flat stomach .. remove that ulgy piece of fabric from her stomach!

I look forward for months to see her flat stomach ... and now they cover it up .. pffff

+ not interested seeing her close the show. She should open it.
Working for VS since 2004.. show some respect Ed Razek!

I'm loving the outfits so far. They have the perfect balance of 'lingerie' and 'costume'.

VICTORIA’S SECRET: INFORMATION RELEASED

Attention VS fans: information about the upcoming show has been released.

1. The Themes

The show has six themes: Gilded Angels, Exotic Traveler, Dream Girl, [Fairy Tale], University of Pink and Angel Ball. The themes too for wet dreams of heterosexual men everywhere for the year ahead.

2. Number of Angels

50 models have been confirmed to walk in the show so far. That’s an increase of 25% from last year. “More the merrier,” as my mum would say. Ten extra Angels will definitely be merrier.

3. The Venue

The capacity of Earl’s Court Exhibition Centre, this year’s venue in South West London, is over 20,000. The capacity of last year’s venue was a mere 5,000. Again, the show is getting bigger and better!

4. 15th Anniversaries

For Adriana and Alessandra, both of whom will be wearing fantasy bras worth over $2 million, it will be their 15th show. A modelling milestone!

5. The Tickets

Though we would regard the experience of watching the show priceless, Victoria’s Secret have priced it at £10,000. An extra £2,000 will get you a ticket to the after party.

Stay tuned for more Victoria’s Secret updates.

Pregnancy did wonders to Doutzen

What is the final number. 10 says its 50 and WWD says 47, which is what we have already. I would be inclined to trust 10 mag since they are connected, but its not like WWD to not have the facts either. So who are the other three.

Also, I am wondering if the Gilded Angels segment is a reference to the Gilded Age in theme or title alone. The Gilded Age wasn't a particularly good era to be celebrated, but it was glamorous and the age of industry. Maybe it will be turn of the century influenced?

# 372

1. I found this statement very discriminatory against lesbian and bisexual
2. what a mess. WWD is a reliable source, so I don't know...
3. not happy about that. models seem fleas walking down the runway on that wide runway.
4. smells a goodbye...:innocent:
5. :censored:

btw, outfits look promising so far. Doutzen:wub:

It will be Ale and Adriana's 14th show since there was no show in 2004. Adriana's first show was in 1999 and Ale's in 2000, but Adriana missed the 09 show due to her pregnancy. If they can't get these details right (which are seemingly trivial) then I just don't trust the other details they may have. But 50 seems like a good round number of models instead of 47.

If it's true that Sam Smith is performing and that 1D will be doing the PINK section, maybe all the performers will be British? This is just my imagination running wild, but would they possibly--in another desperate attempt to make her happen--have Rita Ora perform as well? Just a horrible thought that I hope doesn't come to fruition

Omg please Rita Ora noo, I would be totally fine with Sam Smith and 1D if so :pink:
