Vogue Italia September 2014 by Steven Meisel

I'm missing Meisels former fav. model Rianne Ten Haken! :(

He needs to do a new groupshot with the same concept but with all the missing girls for the October cover otherwise I get gray hair!

i miss her high fashion stuff too, before she became a caricature of her own self.

The 'story' I get from the main editorial is about finding that moment where a model's face comes into frame and it's perfection. You can take a hundred shots of girls from all angles and they'll look great, whatever way they're posed, but there's always that magical second or so, where things come into precise focus, and you're blown away by their beauty, captured by the camera at that exact point.

Is there a solo shot of Jourdan Dunn?
Unfortunately, it seems like they positioned her as background to Karlie & Miranda:rolleyes:. I really hope she has an ed inside to make up for it:judge:...

Also, there was a rumor Gemma Ward was supposed to be staging her comeback on one of these multi-girl vogue sept covers:unsure:. I knew not to get my hopes up cuz it was just a rumor & there was little possibility of this happening but I couldn't help but look for her on the new issue of Vogue Italia with all the other model icons:cry:. It would've been an AMAZING comeback:neutral:

Gemma is the Bigfoot of the fashion industry, many people claim to see her on an upcoming mag yet there is never any proof

Caroline Trentini, Julia Stegner, Elise Crombez, Stam, Rauquel..all his mid 2000's muses together again!!! I'm in love!!!:heart::heart: Go Meisel!!!
Jessica Stam and Coco Rocha shot is perfection..beyond epic!

Wow! Next to her contemporaries, Linda really looks like some sort of weird mannequin.

OMG! What an editorial! WOW!

I love Natalia's shots in this ed and she's perfect besides Christy's...

While I love how ambitious the main cover is, I do agree that there are a couple of omissions from the cast that seem odd.

Why are some of Meisel's biggest favourites over the years missing from the cover? Particularly Snejana, Hannelore, Daria, Gemma (if she were willing) and the Rayder sisters. Hell, Hannelore is (to my knowledge) the only model Meisel has ever put on the cover of VI three times in a row.

It's still a really cool cover, though. The contents of the issue look a little busy but ultimately really rich in content.

^ Maybe because they are not relevant anymore? And Meisel will probably never work with Werbowy again, deal with it.

Frankie Rayder does plenty of work still, thank you very much.

Besides, it's not just a question of "relevance" right now. It's a question of how much of an impact these models have had. An anniversary issue, especially a major one like a 50th, feels like it would have been the perfect chance to celebrate some of the models that, for a time, really shaped the magazine.

But in the end it's Meisel who decides whether or not a model is on the cover. He probably doesn't want to shoot certain models anymore, and some (like Freja) were probably not available.

50% of this thread contains comments like "Where's Werbowy/Freja/Gisele". It's annoying.
