When I look at the cover and the main editorial, I keep wondering why the whole group of professionals behind them is not as assertive as they used to be in the past. Is it because of the internet and the fact that we have already seen so much when it comes to fashion iconography? I think this previous fact I mentioned should be used in order to encourage them to produce something better. I feel quite disappointed, honestly. I do appreciate the group of beautiful women, though (I must say some very important names are missed, but I'm quite happy to see some girls that used to be Meisel's muses some seasons ago and had the chance to grace the cover).

EPIC! Yes, it could have been better if it was in B&W or colour and a bit sharper but hey, who puts 50 of the biggest models on one cover? Steven Meisel!

The front cover is the best. I bet Edie was really nervous with those women standing behind her
However, I don't like that the front cover is different from the rest... the colours looks slightly more yellow, the background is different and the girls are more visible.

The editorial is really cool as well, but I wish it wasn't photographed from that angle and also a little bit farther away so that you can actually see the clothes.

It's nice to see so many Meisel muses mixed with girls that would normally never grace the cover (Anais, Jourdan, Liu).

I see Dolce Gabbana, Prada and Valentino on the front cover, is the rest also wearing Italian brands?

COVER LOOKS:

Linda Evangelista - Dior
Naomi Campbell - ?
Karen Elson - Valentino
Edie Campbell - Saint Laurent
Carolyn Murphy - Dolce and Gabbana
Raquel Zimmermann - ?
Christy Turlington - Prada
Amber Valletta - Gucci
Natalia Vodianova - Miu Miu
Stella Tennant - Chanel

The only other outfits I can immediately ID are -

Jamie Bochert - Marc Jacobs
Liya Kebede - Emilio Pucci

Jessica Stam - Ralph Lauren
Saskia de Brauw - Donna Karan?
Coco Rocha - Proenza?
Sasha Pivovarova - Michael Kors

Ophelie Guillermand - Stella McCartney
Guinevere van Seenus - Alexander McQueen
Jourdan Dunn - Burberry Prorsum
Liu Wen - Balenciaga
Karlie Kloss - Marni

Amanda Murphy - Celine
Sasha Luss - Louis Vuitton
Adriana Lima - Moschino

For better ID ill need an HQ Image, sorry Guys.

Jourdan has a VI cover by him already. The Black Issue she had a solo cover. :flower:

I think the main editorial is really beautiful and most everyone really looks stunning (I'd say Karlie, Sasha Luss and Julia Nobis fall pretty flat - but I consistently don't care for their work, in general). Love seeing some old favorites like Elise Crombez and Julia Stegner who still prove that after all these years, they can still command the camera and the resulting image is captivating. I just want to keep looking at them. It's fantastic.

The cover, on the other hand, I think isn't quite as strong, simply because it's so staged and static. I like that the editorial has movement (even though the girls appear to be posed) - at least there's the effect of action, of their hair moving in the wind, of a sort of interaction among the girls in each shot. Almost any of the individual editorial shots could - or would - have made for a gorgeous cover shot (which I know is SUCH a typical thing to say here on TFS, but I actually think it is true here).

HOWEVER - I think what stand out to me most is that models now just can't hold a candle to models of the past. Yes, there are some beautiful new girls here (I really like what Cindy has done with Meisel so far, for example), but on the whole there just isn't the same power of the older girls. A lot of Meisel's earlier group work really highlighted an industry wide trend at the time to celebrate models who were adult, mature, alluring, sexy, mysterious...you wanted to know more about who they were, and yet somehow you couldn't. I think about the January 2002 story with Carmen Kass and Anne-Catherine Lacroix. That was just a stronger ensemble cast because they were just stronger models. And also I felt like there was a stronger industry wide coherency to models then, too. Now it sort of feels like there is no overarching "look" or "feeling" to models. Everyone just sort of exists now. No substance. No one model enhancing the other. You got the sense that back in the late 90's/early 2000's that every girl strengthened the other.

I don't know if I'm even making sense...I just feel strongly that - like most other aspects of the industry right now - there is something fundamentally lacking. Beauty still exists, but where is the heart and soul? No one seems inspired.

^^ I know, but she would never get one nowadays.

COVER LOOKS:

The girls are most likely wearing the same brand on the cover as in the editorial. For example, Daria Strokous wears Salvatore Ferragamo in al her shots and also on the cover.

^ Yes, Mariacarla is also wearing two different Givenchy outfits both on the cover and the ed

I haven't looked at the editorial, im quite suspicious so I dont look inside the issue until I have purchased it haha. But I'll take your word for it. :D

I just browsed through the eds that have been posted already and this issue's key word should be 'chaotic'...at least that's how it makes me feel. The only editorial that still excites me is Peter's story with Mariacarla (as I mentioned before).
The main editorial is a huge mess.

Karle is in Marni on the cover but Cavalli in the shoot and Guinevere is in McQueen on the cover but DVF and Stella McCartney in the ed so it may be right for some girls but others are not....

BUT
Naomi Campbell is in Versace
Raquel Zimmermann is in Giorgio Armani (Both like in the Editorial)

:D (I also broke my rule....I feel like nothing good can come from this haha)

Valentino Haute Couture

Looks like the models for the editorial are Stephanie Joy Field, Towa Wahlin, Cecile Canepa, Maja Salamon, Charlene Högger

undoubtedly liu wen is an overrated model ever.
still confused why she can be enlisted into top 3 then new super by MDC.
which kinda bothers me...

Isabelli Fontana is wearing Balmain on the cover and Hilary Rhoda is most likely in Jason Wu.

VI is her(liuwen) first major vogue cover since her debut..
NO blue chip ever...
OMG...how she can be the top3 then New super..nobody notices that?very weird..
which makes me uncontrollably sense that her agency made a dirty trade privately with the assistant(s) of MDC..
can anyone know that WHY?
