My thoughts about the Angels Aquatic segment from the unedited video:
OK I am trying to decide if I should declare Angels Aquatic the best segment of the show, it was definitely came off very well in the unedited footage, and this is particularly commendable because a lot was going on but no one thing overwhelmed the other. Oftentimes unedited footage has a lot of awkwardness in it that tends to get edited out but that was not present here which is quite amazing when I think about it.
Miranda - I did not care for this look at all when I saw the fitting photo but it really worked on the runway, the only negative thing that I can say is that the Fantasy Bra got lost, but VS has been short-shrifting the Fantasy Bra in recent shows so it is what it is. Major kudos to Miranda for handling the look with such aplomb because I suspect that most models could not walk those clam shell wings without looking awkward.
Sui - Sui looked lovely in this segment as well. I am not crazy about Adriana Lima's hair this year, didn't care for it last year either, and I kept thinking during Sui's walk that I wish that Adriana's hair was styled like Sui's.
Constance - I thought that the dress was tacky and vulgar in the still photos (and it kinda is), but it really worked on the runway, Constance looked uh-mazing, dare I say that it was one of Constance's best catwalk turns. Everything is particularly on point from the shoulders up - the hair, make up, the crown, the attitude, and oh yeah Constance's strut was hella sexy without being vulgar.
Caroline W. - She got kinda lost in the video but of the little that I've seen she was her usually sunny self.
Lindsay - VS really did Lindsay right with this look, I really like the hair and the little embellishment in her hair. This is the template for a great VS look, simple lingerie with some embellishments thrown in and fabulous wings. I am fine with the crazy costumes up to a point but VS should always have a good representation of this look.
Anne - The schtick with Adam was very cute and a highlight of the show, and major kudos to Anne for not losing her model.
Liu - Very cute and sunny, and it's always a treat when Liu's dimples make an appearance. I did not care for the skirt thingee but I liked the crown.
Anais - Anais is good in print and was one of my faves from FW2011 runway season and I am glad that she was cast for the show but there was nothing standout-ish about her turn on the runway, however there was nothing bad either. I hope to see her do printwork with VS.
Erin - I really like the lingerie, the jewelry and the pearls on the shoulder. I go back and forth with either liking the wings or being meh about them, I think that the look works better in print.
Joan - Her walk was very heavy footed but her radiant smile at the end of the runway was great, as were many of the still photos of her runway turn.
Maryna - I like Maryna's sexy walk and I like the crown, the costume is OK but there it looks like there may have been a better idea in there and needed to go through a couple of more rounds of editing and / or fitting. For some reason the fins being kinda hidden and then coming out at the end of the runway was a highlight.
Karlie - Sometimes I am laughing with Karlie and sometimes I am laughing at her, to be sure she needs to take it down a couple of notches but I really, really, really don't want her to become too self-conscious or in her head, I'd rather see Karlie's weird grin than to see her acting all "business-like" when it comes to the VSFS. I really like the presumably jellyfish effect of the wings as Karlie was leaving the stage.
