Project Runway Season 5

They weren't making them to be worn by our olympians or anything. It was just a challenge. Tim even said during the episode that Ralph Lauren was designing US team's uniforms. (which looked a lot like Terri's btw)

Oooh, guess I'll re-watch. And yes, I thought the RL designs looked like Terri's too.

This seems like the worst season of Project Runway so far. The judges choose ugly outfits as winners. I think that the judges purposely are doing this so no one will watch the next season of Project Runway when its on Lifetime.

I'm really irritated with the focus on Blayne's tanning, if I have to see him in his purple AA hoodie one more time crying about not going tanning, so help me....:yuk:

I thought the last challange was good and it offered so many creative room, yet they all delivered some lame outfits.I think the guy who made the purple (in his mind blue)dress is going home next, he just seems to crumble under pressure.

^ Also, up 'til now he's only done little cocktail dresses, and if the preview for this week is any indication he'll probably be doing another one. That's asking for trouble if all you're doing is cocktail dresses.

But then again there are others who've been hitting one note the whole time. Blayne's been doing a bland solid background with some random bits of neon crap glued onto it (save for the "green" challenge where the neon took over the whole dress to make his model look like some bastard child of lesbian couple Jem and Barbie). Stella has yet to do something un-bikery and she probably never will. Suede's been using a flared out ballerina skirt for the last three challenges.

There are only a couple of people who've had any sort of consistent look while also showing some range. Korto, Leanne, Terri and Kenley come to mind.

And with that, what the HELL is going on with the boys this season? Most of them suck, and since most of them are big obnoxious queens you'd think that someone could be doing the gay male designer population proud. But no, we get a leather-faced, gap-toothed Treasure Troll doll (seriously, dye his hair hot pink and that's exactly what he'd look like). Then you have earnest straight guy Joe who's almost as entertaining as Nyquil....minus the fun loopy feeling.

After I watch each episode I ask myself why I keep bothering. It's like a car wreck...you know you don't wanna look, but you're stupid and you do it anyway.

God, did any of the designers actually hear the challenge?

IMO none of the looks said chic, grown up, high-powered urban woman who can go from boardroom to cocktails flawlessly. The all seemed to take the bohemian cue too far and forgot the fact that outside of fashion women generally do not dress that way to go to work.

Korto and Joe's look was really great, the shape of the jacket with the slim skirt was fabulous. Bright orange taffeta wouldn't have been my first choice, and the dress (though chic) could've fit better and been like an inch longer in the hem, but I loved the look of it.

Jerrell's/Stella's - where on earth would you mix those colors together? The taupe with the ochre belt???? Blech.

Blaine/Leanne - Cute outfit for a young girl going to school. Totally wrong for the challenge.

Terri/Suede - A printed peasant blouse. Groundbreaking.

Keith/Kenley - I really liked the skirt portion, but mixed with that printed batwing top....it was like you cut out pictures of two completely different looks in a fashion mag and scotch taped them together. Of the two teams chosen for the top two, it was the better look and deserved to win.

Kelli/Daniel - You just can't do a look like that without it being compared to Betsey Johnson, not to mention that a 40-something woman would look heinous in it. Not terribly sad to see her go.

I respect Korto's designs but she comes of as such a b*tch sometimes. In the last episode she freaked out at her partner because he agreed with Tim on an issue.

this season is such a disappointment. the designers, nina's and michael's lame comments/analyses and good old heidi. the only spark is tim...

First of all can i just say how much i love Brooke, she is as stunning as she always was, and that hair.

I pretty much agree with everything you wrote Spike, except few exceptions:

Korto and Joe made it work, but i am sorry if that was presented to me, looking so incredibly ill fitting on the model i would have said;hell no, since its a no no for any designer to show sight of lazyiness, just make it work.

Oh My God!!!!:ninja::yuk::sick:
I can NOT belive they all loved Jerrel and Stella's outfit, when Heidi said that was her favourite look, i almost gaged!

Hahah exactly, Blaine is a mess, this looked more like something Lindsay Price's character on the show would wear not Brooke's, but i have to say i thought it was great how Blaine steped up and said he takes the responsibility since it was his idea and he was the leader.

Hahah i know right, that was soo bland, thats it?But sometimes bland is not a totally bad thing so they got saved.

Even though i see what you mean, i thought Keith's (btw this guy is a cutie)outfit worked, i would personally just change the weak belt and add a more expensive looking one.It was just a fab outfit and i loved it from the moment he showed the sketch of it to Brooke, so happy they won, i thought Jerrell's would.:ninja: And i am glad he was able to tame Kenley and her love for floral patterns, lol, she is fun but girl dosen't know where the line is.Cant wait to see it on LJ.

I so agree but i would have rather seen Daniel go than Kelli, granted that she has a totally different taste than me, she has shown way way more range and talent than him. This is the second time(remember the hem of one of his skirts in 2 episode i think? It was awful and embarrassing) his garment was badly made and that is unacceptable!I see something like that and i am sorry;you lose me as a client.

maybe i will be booed imo this season is a bit worse than all the rest:ninja::ninja::ninja:
i mean there have been already 5 episodes but i cant imagine any of them to top 3...
plus they are so full of their self, i mean of course self confidence is good but this is too much hey are just not realistic "i'm gonna win it" "the judges love it" etc.

what's wrong with Blaine? he is so Christian want-to-be, it is annoying
and i find Stella annoying too.

why american athletes didnt wear that design which won competition? it looked like both men and women were in Ralp lauren

That Olympic challenge was just a hypothetical situation, like a "how would you dress the US team for the opening ceremony" the winning look was never intended to be worn by the team since Ralph Lauren was commissioned to design the uniform.

i agree this is one of the worst seasons ever. there's more personality than talent.

and daniel :(

^ I feel like Blaine is trying to be the next Christian with the catch phrases and the way he interacts with Tim. The difference is Christian was more endearing, Blaine just seems too try-hard. Or as Leanne so eloquently put it "annoyinglicious".

I actually like Blayne more than Christian. Christian was soooo annoying, so much that I stopped watching that season because I couldnt stand how he claimed to own the word 'fierce'. :yuk:

Anyway I loved last nights episode, but I think Terri should have won. Hers had so much to look at, and while Joe's was very cute (and I loved his drag queen, she was adorable) I think she deserved the win.

Poor Daniel. He just didnt get it did he? I wanted Keith gone because his was hideous, but he stayed. Why??!

Anyone having predictions for Top 3? Or who are you rooting for the top 3?

I'd like to see Terri, Korto, Leann. But it will probably be 2 guys and 1 girl...I actually see that Joe getting to the top 3. I just want Terri there! I really like her now.

And while that was somewhat sad about Suede's grandpappy, could you please stop? Please!

agreed. she's been robbed of the win before in my opinion. She is consistently good, creative, and apparently underestimated!
