Thoughts on the 2010 VSFS based on photos, my opinion may change once I see the clothes and models in motion - unless otherwise noted, comments are based photos posted in
the old thread and vsholic.
Segment 1: Tough Love
OK I like pretty and princessy, but what the
with the Barbie sensibilities, hello, the segment is called Tough Love. What the
with that train on Lily's outfit; what the
with that kimono Anja is wearing; why the
are there roses on Adriana's outfit, roses and skulls,
ROSES! How the
does Alessandra, Maryna and Rosie's ensembles even fit in with the segment theme? Ale and Maryna's outfit, along with Anja's kimono and Lily's train look like rejects from the Fleur de whatever segment from a couple of years ago. I don't mind the recycling, but how on earth did anyone think that these these embellishments belong in a segment called Tough Love, and putting some spikes on the garments do not all of the sudden make them tough, SMH!
Segment 2: Game On
Erin looks spectacular opening the segment! I never paid attention to her in previous shows, but she was a standout this year. From the brief snippets that I've seen, Chanel, Karolina and Behati's outfits look better on the runway than in still pictures. For some strange reason, I think that Abbey Lee was the intended for the ensemble that Behati wore in this segment. Izabel was also a standout in this segment. All I can think of when I see Liu and Isabeli is "poor thing," but kudos to them for working those tragedies. I like Lais ensembles, I really like Adriana's without the cape - I don't even get why a football cape was paired with a baseball outfit.
Segment 3: Country Girls
This segment gets a thumbs up for being, for the most part, coherent. I prefer denim country over gingham country, so Maryna and Ale's ensembles were my favorites, but my lack of enthusiasm is more about my personal taste than a misstep in the design and styling. I loved how Rosie's dress flowed as she walked and she looked tres sexy. I am curious to see what Lindsay's ensemble looks like in motion.
Segment 4: Heavenly Bodies
This is also a coherent segment too, although I don't get Julie's ensemble, but at this time, that is no biggie. Whether this segment will be good or meh depends on if the music is good and how the models walk their ensembles. They don't necessarily have to be hammy, but just have presence and sex appeal or glamor. I thought that the million dollar bra was quite underwhelming in this segment, if I did not have a head's up, I would not have known who was wearing the Fantasy Bra between Adriana and Candice - although I think that
this is one of the best, if not the best promo pictures of the FB and should be on display in every VS store from here to Timbuktu.
Segment 5:
This is by far my favorite segment when it comes to the photos and I hope that it lives up to expectations in motion. My mouth fell open the first time I saw Lais in her outfit - while she looks still looks amazing and her wallk was amazing, it appears that she needs to work on her end of the runway posing and presence.
Lais, Ale and Karolina's wings, kinda don't care for KK's ensemble, but I am sooo glad that this segment did not get Barbified.
Segment 6:
First of all, hooray for their being six segments. I hate lifesaver legwarmers, so not a good thing in my book. Jacquelyn Jablonski joins Isabeli and Liu for the Poor Thing Award, but she too gets major props for working her look. Maryna in that ensemble is sooo
, I cannot wait to see her walk and be all hawt in that ensemble. From the glimpses that I have gotten in the videos, I am looking forward to Chanel's closing.
