Project Runway Season 5

Ha! Someone somewhere once described Nina as looking like a "shrunken apple head" and I've never been able to get that image out of my head since reading it.

Oh, thank goodness they finally eliminated Blayne. I also thought Jerrell shouldn't have won, but I guess Leanne can't win every week. I thought hers was the best but she definitely has a signature style (or "point of view" as they constantly say on PR). That can work for or against her depending on the whims of the judges.

Jerry is the big mystery to me. He was the first to be eliminated, his design with Suede was dull, and yet he appears to be one of the most successful of the PR designers. Maybe he just doesn't work well under pressure?

Wow, everything that went down that runway last night was pretty awful.

Blayne's was just gross. Like some cheapo outfit a soccer mom would make for her kid's dance recital. And the leather straps had absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the outfit! It was just weird and bad.

Jerell's was not as bad as some others, but still bad. I think a solid color for the skirt would have worked better.

Kenley's was gross, and looked VERY V&R. Also, I don't really think she does have a good eye for prints despite what she might think.

Korto's was fine. It fit the sign well, but idk it just didn't really work for me.

Joe's was fine...nothing special, nothing too heinous.

Suede's looked like some ugly outfit a modern dance troupe would perform in.

Terri's was awful. And wow...I can't believe how nasty that woman was. I'm glad to see her gone. I thought leo would be a great sign to work with, but that dress kinda looked like some weird sci-fi/star wars costume.

Leanne's was the nicest. I didn't love it or anything, but I thought it definitely deserved the win.

This season is pretty meh. Korto and Leanne are the only ones who really seem to have any taste or talent.

How and why did Jerrell's outfit win? I guess I fell asleep at some point because I didn't see how it was avant garde. I don't normally advocate violence but someone needs to punch Kenley in the face. Besides her annoying voice, she has to be the most delusional designer of the all, and that's pretty hard to do when you have Keith, Blayne...etc

Korto should have won the challenge and Kenley should have left instead of Terri. I certainly didn't like Terri's, but Kenley's was HIDEOUS, HIDEOUS, HIDEOUS.

I'm so sad Blayne had to leave. He makes god awful clothes, but I loved him as a person.
I love Leanne. I want her to win, at this point.

^ No, the episodes are filmed months ahead of fashion week. What usually winds up happening is there's like 2 or 3 episodes shown between when the fashion show happens and the time when the finale episodes are shown.

At least that's how it's always been in the past.

Are you sure about that? I'm just wondering, because I think it's weird this season too. I know there's a couple episodes in between the last elimination and the finale, but even with that, there has usually always been only 4 designers left by the time they show in Fashion Week. But I know last season there were five who showed, so I guess this year they're just increasing it to 6?

I haven't seen this last episode yet, but going by the picture, I was very underwhelmed by everyone's designs. Anyway, Top Three I think will be Jerrell, Korto and Leanne (JKL, lol).

Anyone have any questions for Terri there's someone who is friends with her posting at the atforumz.com Project Runway thread (which is constantly being posted in) and people there ask questions and her friend replies back.

They wrote this about what went down between Mental Health Risk and Terri on last episode

Terri was worried that last night's show would be edited the way it was... Real story is this--- Keith was sent away after his loss for mental help. When he came back, he told Terri he was in a fragile state of mind. He immediately didn't like her drawing and as a way of getting back at her, did some VERY psycho things. She told him " Don't you want to prove that you are a good designer"? and apparently he was more interested in sabotaging her than proving himself. For instance, what Bravo chose not to let us see is that Keith started cutting holes in Terri's fabrics and was putting ( I **** you not) metal in her sewing machine in hopes it would fly out at her. He just went insane. Terri talked to the producers about what was going on and their response was " OH, well. It all has to play out on camera. We can't intervene"

So....Had it not been for Keith and his psychotic deeds, Terri would've still been on. She knew that her garment was hideous and was embarrassed about it. Sadly, there wasn't much she could do.

^ Wow, that's really, really horrible. I thought Terri was a decent designer.

Here's my PR question - feel free to ask over there if you want LTEC. When you get eliminated and sequestered, where do they keep you? I assume you can't go home as people would figure it out (especially if you are one of the first). Do you have to stay in 24-7? If you're in NYC, are you still at Atlas? I'm guessing you can't go to Paris or somewhere where there's no PR? Is that how Wesley and Dan first got together - nothing else to do?

And yeah, they weirdly did show 6 collections this morning. There's a Twitter feed at Bravo where you can read some reactions. Ten looks each from the following:

Jerell
Suede
Joe
Kenley
Korto
Leanne

I'm sure we'll see photos soon!

hmmm I have a little bit of a hard time buying that explanation. If Keith really did go insane and have some kind of nervous breakdown, why would they cut that out? Seems like great television.

Also, this wasn't the first time that Terri seemed to have an attitude problem. She's said a couple nasty things in previous episodes. Didn't Jerrell even make a comment about it?

Someone thought the same thing, Morgan, and here is an explanation from Terri's friend.

I dunno. I think it's very easy to edit an hour long show and not include two days worth of events. I also wonder if leaving all that stuff out was an attempt to minimize damage to Keith's mental state. But... I do believe Terri when she says " The dress did NOT turn out the way I wanted it". I think that during judging, she obviously had to sell her garment even if she wasn't able to. And to go on an all-out tirade against Keith and tell all of the drama just isn't her style. After knowing someone in real life and then seeing them on tv, I finally agree that producers can make you into anything they want you to be because she is one of the nicest people ever. She would not have pulled the b*tch out last night if she wasn't really provoked, so... yeah, I'm defending a friend, but I just thought you guys would like to know what was really going on between her and Keith

TBH that whole psycho Keith thing just doesn't sound like the truth. If PR producers had that kind of drama going on, would they really edit it out entirely? It doesn't make sense considering that they go for drama above all else. Besides that, I'd be hesitant to believe what a friend of the contestant (who wasn't there to witness it first hand) has to say about what really happened.

And it's not like this is the first time that Terri's been portrayed as a b*tch. Both Jerrell and Stella made it clear that they thought she was two-faced/untrustworthy in two separate episodes.

Jerrell mentioned a few episodes ago he thought Terri was a two face.

I have to agree that if any of the stuff Terri's friend said happened really did it would be PR gold.
I could see it now.... Keith sabotaging her sewing machine while they played devious music. They couldn't have passed that up.
In fact he came off better in that episode than he did all season.
It really seemed as though he was trying to help and was getting shot down every time.

^ I don't believe Blayne is only 23...43 on a good day:innocent:
He has a ton of premature wrinkles on his face from all that tanning. He looks like a troll.

Cygenoir I got your questions answered
you stay at Atlas. You ARE sequestered. NO tv, no magazines, no anything. I believe that Wesley and Daniel got together before either one were kicked off. When Daniel was kicked off, Wesley met him with flowers. So I think it works like this....when you are kicked off, you don't see the contestants still on the show. You can, however, hang with other booted contestants.

Thanks for the pics of Terri Devon! Fun that you met her...my friend, who went to the show, met Tim Gunn and took photos with him. I'll post his review
all 6 of the remaining contestants showed so i have no clue who the top 3 were. Leanne and Korto were by far my favorites, both exceptionally strong. Suede's was almost embarrassingly bad. I could see Michael and Nina laughing and I assume making bitchy comments during it.

People might have read that J-Lo cancelled last minute. Heidi mentioned it during her into and said she just cancelled yesterday for a "foot injury" (which seems like a lame excuse, all she would've had to do was sit next to the other judges). They played Mariah's E-MC2 during the setup for the show, like the whole thing and I seriously wondered if it was a clever jab at her.
wink.gif
Tim Gunn sat in as judge in her place.

I'm also wondering if one of the upcoming challenges is a wedding dress one because at least 3 of the designers from my memory had wedding-like dresses in their collections.

most excitingly, i met Tim Gunn! and i got my picture with him and made him laugh when i told him how i clean out my closet all the time like on Guide to Style. he was really sweet. I also met Laura Bennett and Stella and got pictures with them too. Tons of Project Runway contestants from past seasons were there too including Santino, Nick V, Jay, Christian, Rami, Jillian, etc. What a day. i'm definitely on cloud 9.

Viewed the collections earlier today and I say:

LEANNE for the win!!!

Loved the colors, the innovation, the beauty. A top notch collection for sure (I just dont understand how she can make such beautiful, exciting pieces yet dress so drab herself!). Jerell's had a different vibe, alot going on, but there appeared to be some fit problems. Korto had some great pieces and some not-so-great pieces, same with Kenley. (oh did anyone else think of Alexander McQueen when you saw that cream/white feather dress?) Joe's was pretty forgettable to me, except for the red dress with the leather top. and there's just one word for Suede's "collection": barf.

Im really pulling for Leanne~~
