Project Runway Season 5

I wish I had the names memorized. I could join in on the discussion.

I adore the girl that reminds me of Dita. What's her name?:flower:

^ Oh no, I think I know who you mean PL. The one with the Bettie Page hair and really cute outfits. That's Kenley.

Stella's the rocker chic.

....I like Stella....I mean, I'm not sold on her designs yet, but I think her personality is hilarious. "Blayne, what does he know, he's 12 years old?" I love her monotone, New York accent.

So far my favorite designer is Korto...she's done some great stuff. That seams on the outside dress was stunning (minus the fins in the bottom of the back)...plus, she's one of the few designers in all of PR history who is not only a good designer but a good runway stylist, too. I mean, on her last dress...the model's hair and the African necklace and the shoes were all so great looking.
I totally agree about Korto. So far she's one of the few contestants that seems to have a really "fashion" point of view, her two dresses so far have stood out from the rest because they're daring, well made and are kind of forward thinking in a sea of boring babydolls and poor attempts at being cutting edge.

 Thank you for the correction.

I like Kenley, too....I've seen a lot of people try to do that 40's/ pin-up/ Bettie Page look, and they always end up looking like they're trying way too hard (with their tattoos, their black hair and bangs, their leopard and neon, their cheap red lipstick, etc.)...I just get a vibe from Kenley that her look is 100% genuine and it's the first time I haven't found someone who does the Bettie Page look extremely obnoxious.

So how come Nina Garcia is still credited as being Editor at ELLE?Anyone know what the deal is? Is it just for TV?

When did she leave Elle? My only thought was that it could've been filmed before she resigned.

^^She was let go in early April. So i was wondering how this will work and if Hearst would want some piece of the pie?!?!?

^ she's editor at large - what she actualy does is beyond me
But she was fired from ELLE, and she is now an Editor at Marie Claire. We all read about it, it was everyhwere.

I would have liked if Stella left instead of Jerry. I think her dress was horrible, in my opinion she is going to keep giving us the same look blacks, leather and denim I dont think she has the ability to get away from her rockstar metallic look. In my opinion Jerry's look wasnt as bad as stella he actually had a look in mind and stella like she said she just grabbed the trash bags and started sewing probably no knowing that would come out of it I think there was no inspiration there but Jerry's did obviously have a clear inspiration/idea. I would have liked to see more of him.

As "Nina-gate" simmers down with the news that Nina Garcia will join Marie Claire as fashion director on September 2, Robbie Myers, vice president and editor in chief of Elle, today officially announce that the former Elle fashion director has been named editor at large through Sept 1.

Read more here.

Could someone explain to me how Stella made it to Top Three in the last challenge? It was an improvement over her last week's work, but it was still kinda ugly. I did like the lace though.

I also didn't really care that much for the winning design. It was complicated that the rest, but somehow it just looked like a mummy to me. I think Kenley should have won. I loved her dress. I agree with Michael Kors, it was chic.

I'd rank them as follows
1. Kenley's knee-length dress with that neck thing
2. Blayne's pink number (sort of predictable, but kinda sexy)
3. Suede's mummy dress
4. Terri's navy dress with the ruffles in the front
5. Joe's gold/brown dress (simple, but tasteful)
6. Jennifer's gray and orange dress (I can't decide whether I like it or not)
7. Emily's white and blue dress (though it was too short)
8. Stella's 'biker chick' dress
9. Kelli's blue and white dress (very forgettable)
10. Daniel's black dress (very bland)
11. Keith's white curtain dress (I don't know if it was the fit, but it just looked wrong)
12. Korto's inside-out dress (not that bad, but completely unwearable)
13. Jerell's blue dress with the peacocks (so tacky, should've been bottom 3)
14. Leanne's gold/brown dress (I'm glad she stayed, but that was way too much)
15. Wesley's gold/brown dress (I wish he stayed, but he did a bad job here)

To be honest I still dont get what happended between Nina Garcia and Elle yet...It is just so confusing...
Btw,I dont like Stella's design either...It doesnt look flatted to me at all...Suede's design is really creative but I cant stand the way he talks...

i think Project Runway the JUDGES should be changed now. :furious:

seriously Michael Kors and Nina Garcia is one 'SET' of people who has huge biased view ever.
it'll be rather better that the judges are changed at every episode.
the judges are influenced by previous works and the designers themselves, so they don't consider about only the designs.
i'm always angry when they kick out wrong person.

and always Michael Kors says 'is that pretty? no! that's not pretty!', or something like 'it's unique but it's not pretty'

i don't care about prettiness. i'm sick of that pretty mention.
i think they should more think about 'creative' than 'pretty'.
'creative but horrible' is probably better than 'pretty but safe'.

I agree. 100%

It would be very nice to get some different creative minds judging.

I also agree about changing judge Michael Kors he annoys the heck out of me. But I like Nina Garcia thou.
