Project Runway Season 5

Can I just say that Daniel Vosovic is officially my new favorite person.

This was taken from his blog, discussing this week's challenge....who knew we shared part of a brain?

Suede

This is another example of losing me from Point A to Point B ... and besides the fact that I think Point B is boring and looks way too much like something Kimora Lee would send down a Baby Phat runway, I just don't get it. Aside from the super dated styling, I find the dress pretty stale, especially considering the innovation he showed last week. You raised the bar Suede, not us, so get back up there and "Rock It Suede!"

I can't even recall what Suede's dress looked like last night.
Anyone have a pic?

The very second Keith started to make his dress I knew that would be the one Kors was referring to in the preview.
It was toliet paper caught in a wind storm for sure!

Jerrell - boy needs to tame that ego cause so far his stuff sucks. That was just a poorly made Zac Posen gown.

When I first saw his model turn the corner I thought, wow.
I was shocked he made a full length gown in the same time everyone else made a cocktail.
Then I saw the quality.

What'd everyone think of tonight's episode? I thought the challenge was pretty good...although knowing PR they had to make it something not fashiony....I REALLY wished the challenge was more like Lane Crawford's "Fashion in Motion."

Happy with the winner, although I don't think the right person went home...granted it wasn't particularly impressive, it wasn't the worst by far.

^ I agree.

I loved Terri's outfit just slightly more than Korto's, but they both did great work so I was just happy to see one of them win. TBH if you paired Terri's top half with Korto's (gorgeous) pants, the look would be perfect...very Ralph Lauren in the best possible way.

Those two were the only highlights in this challenge.

I think a lot of what made this challenge yield such bad results is the color palette. Red, white and blue together only works on flags and flight attendants.

As for who should've gone home, the one they chose was not the right choice. Her outfit, though boring, wasn't ugly. The pieces were nice on their own, kind of Banana Republic/J.Crew.

As for who should've gone home, that Bicentennial Barbie outfit was ATROCIOUS. It wasn't appropriate for the challenge, it wasn't believable as fashion, and it wasn't creative either. Proof that good designers are going home and good tv gets to stay.

Who's design are you talking about?

I didn't mind the winning design, but I prefer Terri's, personally. It was so Ralph Lauren, in a good way.

I thought Blayne should've gone home. It didn't look THAT bad on tv, but looking at the picture, it's ridiculous and wouldn't be flattering for anyone. Or actually maybe Jerell. This was not only innapropriate, but compeltely missed the boat with what the challenge called for.

Here's my ranking
Terri - again, it was pretty perfect
Korto - love the pants, not sure yet about the jacket/vest
Joe - it's cute and occasion-appropriate, but maybe not formal enough and not exactly fashion forward
Leanne - something about it I really like
Suade - pleasantly surprised by him, this was very nice
Kelli - another one in that group "cute, but not what the challenged called for"
Jennifer - not surprised with her result, it wasn't even close to the assignment, but it was a good design on its own
Kenley - boring, she should've added some umph to it
Daniel - pretty dress, but completely missed the boat
Stella - lol, I hope all those bikers watched this episode
Keith - I didn't get this whatsover
Blayne - again, very unflattering
Jerell - can't even pretend i understand what he was trying to do

So I guess I agree with the top three, but completely disagree with the bottom three.

I agree.

Jennifer's I actually liked. I mean, it didn't fit the challenge very well...but...to me there was still something kind of 'Olympic' about it. It felt like 1920's interpretation of Greece and Rome with the gold...I don't know. I would have liked to have seen it without the cardigan (even if I liked the embellishment at the neck) because if it was a plain white tank with thinner straps, I think it would have worked ok. In fact, there was a little something about it that reminded me of McQueen SS 06 done in a 'Jennifer' way.

Jerell is positively delusional. His outfit was HEINOUS....he should have gone because this challenge's outfit and all his previous outfits have been stupid beyond belief.
Daniel's was revolting. However, his last several outfits have been really nice, so if it were between him and Jerell, I'd send Jerell home in LESS than a heartbeat.

I dont think Emily should go:doh: She is a sweet girl.:flower:and her design wasnt that bad.And actually I like Kenley. She is so adorable.:heart:and I really like her design and style.

Jerell standing next to his Bicentennial Barbie wearing his Robin Hood Men in Tights outfit himself looked aching to go home to me.
:innocent:
I don't care for his style or taste at all.

God so many things went through my mind when seeing Jerrell's...Polly Anna/Chitty Chitty Bang Bang/Little Bo Peep/Laura Ingalls from Little House on the Prairie...poor thing.

Hated what Daniel made but I still like him...He was about to cry though from the criticism. Really tired of Michael Kors and Nina.

I found myself really rooting for Daniel.
He was so panicked when he realized how off he was that he was giving me aniexty.

I didn't love Jennifer's designs past or present....
and really couldn't see this surrealism she kept referring to....
but I think she was the wrong choice.

Can't wait to see what Kenley is laughing at on the runway during judging next week.

Oh... I have to add.....
wtf was with Jerell and the leggings?....:o
He made a look straight of out the distant past and paired it with the worst trend of the 21st century?....
I am really ready for him to be out.

Unfortunately, I don't see him going anywhere soon. He's the diva personality that PR seems to think they need to be successful.

I found myself wondering while watching last night if the PR team was really hard up for applicants this season. I mean, most of them suck and that's no exaggeration.

I don't know names so, I'll make this vague. :p

I liked who got kicked off because the judges were right, she had a hard time separating what she liked from what she needed to do.

And the other person in the bottom two had a horrendous outfit. I could have seen him being kicked off for that atrocity.

i think project runway should less make a bit kinda 'commercial' works..
it's making creativity dull, and sort of boring.

i agree definitely....she was stucked in 60s american kitchen housewife-esque a lot...

^^Even so...it was still tasteful. The other two in the bottom three were DEFINITELY not. None of the designers in the bottom 3 really did what the challenge asked them to do, so it should have come down to a matter of tastefulness....Jennifer's should not have gone home. Jerell's should have...it was embarrassing.

I didn't see the athletes actually wearing the winning outfit...am I missing something?

They weren't making them to be worn by our olympians or anything. It was just a challenge. Tim even said during the episode that Ralph Lauren was designing US team's uniforms. (which looked a lot like Terri's btw)
